Arkema Official Apologizes For Chemical Fire at Texas Plant
A top executive at the chemical company that owns a plant where a container of volatile chemicals caught fire and exploded, apologized Friday for the continuing crisis.
Where is the Plant Manager for this plant? Where is the internal fire department that knows what to do when a fire breaks out? Every plant has Safe Operating Practices (SOP’s) to manage this type of situation. This is a French Company and the spokesperson acted like he had no idea what to do. He could not answer if the chemicals were harmful when burned or if it would hurt people who inhaled the smoke.
It looks like everyone high-tailed it out of there. The local fire department do not have the authority to go into the plant according to a spokesman on TV.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) needs to investigate this company. I have never heard of a company not being responsive when questioned so that the local residents can make plans if this is dangerous to the public. A number of policeman entered the plant and had breathing problems and had to be taken to the hospital.
