Interesting:

Kamala stated she grew up in a MIDDLE class household?

From 1975-1976, when Harris was 12, professors at several universities, including McGill, made an average of $28,751 per year, according to a study of professor salaries at 61 schools from 1975-67. This was over double the median household income at the time, which was $11,800.

Vice President Kamala Harris was admitted to law school through University of California-San Francisco’s Legal Education Opportunity Program for students with “educational disadvantage, economic hardship, or disability,” according to the law school’s magazine.

Democratic nominee Harris is a 1989 graduate of the program, according to a 2018 article in UC Law SF Magazine.

“LEOP offers admission to approximately 50 high-achieving students each year—up to 20 percent of the class—who have experienced major life hurdles, such as educational disadvantage, economic hardship, or disability,” the article says. “The majority are students of color.”

“Besides traditional admissions criteria, such as grades and LSAT scores,” the article continues, “the program also considers students’ overall potential and the obstacles they’ve overcome.”

The Legal Education Opportunity Program provides extra help to its law students, “offering a weeklong orientation, academic counseling, practice exams, and help preparing for the bar exam and job interviews, among other resources and services.”

The Harris campaign did not respond to The Daily Signal’s question about which “major life hurdles” qualified the vice president for the Legal Education Opportunity Program.

After moving to the U.S. from India, Harris’ mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris, earned a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and became a renowned researcher and professor.

Shyamala worked at the University of Illinois and the University of Wisconsin, spent time in France and Italy, and received tenure at McGill University in Montreal. The would-be vice president lived in Canada with her mother and sister from age 12 until high school graduation.

From 1975-1976, when Harris was 12, professors at several universities, including McGill, made an average of $28,751 per year, according to a study of professor salaries at 61 schools from 1975-67. This was over double the median household income at the time, which was $11,800.

Harris’ father, Donald Harris, also held a P.h.D from Berkeley. He became a tenured professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, then returned to California in 1972 to become a professor of economics at Stanford University. Harris’ parents divorced in 1972.

The New Yorker described Donald Harris as “a renowned Marxist economist from Jamaica who taught at Stanford University for decades.”

The UCSF Law School did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment about what qualified Harris for the program.

Harris has faced multiple accusations of plagiarism in the past week, as investigative journalists uncovered passages in her books and her written testimony that copy long passages elsewhere verbatim.

KOMMONSENTSJANE – Uncovered: Old Harris Tweet Celebrates “Progressive Prosecutors.”

We have a binary choice to make in November. We can choose socialism or we can choose Donald Trump.

While serving in the U.S. Senate, Kamala Harris celebrated the Democrat primary victory of Philadelphia progressive prosecutor Larry Krasner—and the controversial policies he would later champion as the city’s district attorney.

“As I said yesterday, progressive prosecutors are key to criminal justice reforms like rolling back mass incarceration and ending cash bail,” Harris wrote on social media, May 17, 2017.

Progressive prosecutors, also referred to as rogue prosecutors, are those who, in the name of social justice, “have usurped the legislative power by refusing to prosecute large categories of crimes,” according to Zack Smith and Charles Stimson, authors of “Rogue Prosecutors: How Radical Soros Lawyers Are Destroying America’s Communities.”

Before being elected as Philadelphia’s district attorney, Krasner worked as a criminal defense and civil rights attorney. He “sued the Philadelphia Police Department dozens of times over the decades, ran to be Philadelphia’s district attorney and received almost $1.45 million in campaign spending from George Soros in the process,” Smith and Stimson previously reported for The Daily Signal.

On his website, Krasner touts that under his watch, “the office broke its information-sharing contract with [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement], has “stopped prosecuting nearly all simple drug possession cases,” and “Other drug possession cases are diverted toward treatment.”

Harris served as a prosecutor in California in the 1990s and was later elected district attorney of San Francisco in 2003. In 2010, she was elected attorney general of California and won reelection in 2014. While serving in these roles, Harris implemented policies championed by the progressive prosecutor movement.

In 2004, black gang member David Hill shot and killed San Francisco police officer Isaac Espinoza. Harris, who was the district attorney of San Francisco at the time, did not pursue the death penalty.

In 2012, while serving as attorney general, Harris issued a bulletin to law enforcement in California regarding an Immigration and Customs Enforcement program called Secure Communities that enables ICE to detain and deport criminal illegal aliens. In the bulletin, Harris told law enforcement that they were not required to fulfill individual ICE immigration detainers but could instead “make their own decisions” about detainer requests.

Despite her past embrace of policies progressive prosecutors have been known to advocate for, Harris has pegged herself as a tough on crime criminal prosecutor on the campaign trail.

Within days of launching her campaign, Harris used her record as a prosecutor in an effort to contrast herself with former President Donald Trump

“I took on perpetrators of all kinds: predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain,” she said at a campaign event in Wisconsin in July. “So hear me when I say I know Donald Trump’s type.”

During her debate with Trump on Sept. 10, Harris said she was “the only person” on stage to have “prosecuted transnational criminal organizations for the trafficking of guns, drugs, and human beings.”

Harris, who wrote the book “Smart on Crime” in 2009, has previously received criticism for her support of “soft on crime” policies, such as her pledge to “never charge the death penalty” during her 2004 inauguration speech to the office of San Francisco’s district attorney.

During her 2020 campaign for president, Harris issued a memo in which she detailed her support for ending mass incarceration.

Harris advocated for “significant federal investments in policies that would end mass incarceration and especially into evidence-based, non-carceral social supports and programs at the state and local level to improve public safety and reduce violence,” she said.

In the same 2020 campaign memo, Harris called for the end of cash bail.

“Our bail system is unjust and broken,” Harris said, adding, “450,000 Americans sit in jail today awaiting trial because they cannot afford to pay bail. Excessive cash bail disproportionately harms people from low-income communities and communities of color,” she wrote.

Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign did not respond to The Daily Signal’s request for comment, but the campaign’s previous statements indicate Harris still backs ending cash bail.

“On the issue of cash bail, she believes that we need a system where public safety, not wealth, determines who should stay behind bars following an arrest,” James Singer, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, told Fox News Digital in August. “Anyone who is a danger to society should be detained regardless of how wealthy they are.”

KOMMONSENTSJANE – OPINION: Kamala’s Basket of Deplorables

10/26/2024

We have a binary choice to make in November. We can choose socialism or we can choose Donald Trump.

And yes, it really is that simple.

Reading this article was a “breath of fresh air” by covering the water front and calling what it is and not word salads.

Kamala is trying to bide time and run out the clock without telling voters what her REAL plans are for our country. Voters should not vote for her without those plans.. That has been the story of her life.

She, nor Liz Cheney, are not an honest brokers.

Those Democratic “bedwetters” are out in force, alarmed by poll movement toward Donald Trump, critiquing Kamala Harris’s every recent comment and decision. Yet if Democrats lose this election, it will be because of a choice her team made long ago: to replay the Hillary Clinton campaign.

Ms. Harris spent her week alongside former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney, courting disaffected Republicans and making herself more available to the press. This in theory is a sound use of valuable closing time. Polls show a narrow slice of undecided voters in swing states could decide this election, and many are independents and moderates who harbor deep reservations about Mr. Trump. Polls also show that voters still don’t know enough about Ms. Harris’s intentions.

Yet they aren’t learning anything new. Ms. Cheney spent the entirety of a Birmingham, Mich., town hall excoriating Mr. Trump for his misdeeds, complete with the following thesaurus: “depravity,” “misogyny,” “vicious,” “vitriolic,” “erratic,” “unstable” “venom,” “dangerous” and “cruel.” She lectured audiences that they must vote their “conscience.”

Ms. Harris filled in the blanks. Her opening remarks at the event consisted of two sentences noting she’d been a prosecutor and lived outside Washington, before pivoting to what was at “stake” in an election in which her opponent has contempt for both the Constitution and “the rule of law.” The next 40 minutes: Mr. Trump is “unserious,” “unfit,” “exhausting,” “harmful” and easily “manipulated” and stands for “fascism ‘to his core.’

Takeaways from Kamala Harris town hall

Americans have heard all this before—thousands of times. Mrs. Clinton battered Mr. Trump in 2016 as more toxic than botulism, utterly unfit for the Oval Office. The press and Democrats spent the next four years accusing him of conspiracy, fraud, self-enrichment, authoritarianism and ineptitude, after which President Biden turned “MAGA Republicans” into a pejorative. This is so familiar by now that the definition of an undecided voter is someone who is aware of Mr. Trump’s problems yet unpersuaded to vote for his opponent.

Ms. Harris is giving them nada. Undecided participants in this week’s CNN town hall pleaded with her for details. She responded with the barest of platitudes. What “specific” actions would you take to bridge the partisan divide? Ms. Harris: I’ll be “a president for all Americans” with “common-sense” and “practical” solutions. What one policy goal would be your priority in Congress? Ms. Harris: There’s “not just one,” and we need to “get past this era of politics and partisan politics,” and I will “invest” in “the industries of the future.” After four years of Mr. Biden, please (please! please!) “differentiate” your policies from his. Ms. Harris: I represent a “new generation” with “new approaches,” and I bring “my experience, actually taking care of my mother.” All the space in between these nothingburgers was, of course, filled with casting Mr. Trump as the root of all evil

Her bigger problem: This portrayal of Mr. Trump as an unconscionable pick is potentially turning voters away—as in 2016. Even Mrs. Clinton in retrospect admitted that her description of would-be Trump voters then as a “basket of deplorables”—“racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it”—might have lost her the election. Her attempted clean-up was just as bad, when she allowed the next day that not all Trump voters were loathsome—many were just losers or dupes who didn’t understand Mr. Trump was conning them, and if anything deserved liberal empathy. This smug arrogance turned off millions of voters.

Ms. Harris hasn’t been so stupid as to revile openly the great Trump unwashed, but the Harris/Cheney tour amounts to the same. How else to think of anyone voting for—or more to the point, thinking of voting for—a “toxic,” “unstable” “fascist” “threat” to the Constitution? Americans like to be treated as if they have a brain—in this case, to assume they are well aware of Mr. Trump’s risks and shortcomings but also understandably worried about electing a vapid Biden retread. Ms. Harris’s closing argument amounts to: Good people vote for Democrats.

A last problem: Americans are sick of rehashing the past eight years. A campaign obsessing on what Mr. Trump did or didn’t do years ago is a campaign failing to scratch the huge public itch for a candidate with a plan for the future.

Ms. Harris’s stall (decline?) in polls neatly coincides with her decision around debate time to ditch her focus on “joy” and the “future” in favor of making the race all about her opponent. It also coincided with a growing public and press demand that she offer more policy specifics. She doesn’t want to go there, since that agenda remains a supersized version of Mr. Biden’s, which is unpopular. Her campaign seemed to hope that a pivot to Trump would further spare it the conversation. It isn’t working.

Mitch McConnell is scared a Kamala Harris presidency would spell disaster for the Republican party, prognosticating that a Democratic presidency would result in the demise of the filibuster and a liberal packing of the Supreme Court.

“Let’s assume our worst nightmare – the Democrats went to the White House, the House, the Senate,” McConnell said during a speech to lawmakers in Louisville, Kentucky, Spectrum reports. “The first thing they’ll do is get rid of the [Senate] filibuster. Second, you’ll have two new states: D.C., Puerto Rico. That’s four new Democratic senators in perpetuity.”

“If they get those two new states and pack the Supreme Court, they’ll get what they want,” McConnell continued. “By the way, on packing the Supreme Court … you may know this already. It’s unconstitutional.”

McConnell’s remarks come as polling shows a tightening race between Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Harris, especially in battleground states, where Trump’s lead has shrunk from 3.5 percent to 1 percent after Harris announced Minnesota Gov. Tim Walzas her running mate.

During his speech, Spectrum reports that McConnell called the Walz-Harris ticket “the far left of the Democratic Party.

“And by the way, that’s most Democrats today,” McConnell said, according to Spectrum.
