Pelosi Mocks McCarthy’s Outrage Following Sick Spending Bill Passage

By Rosalind Doyle

Before Democrats (alongside 9 Republicans) pushed through Biden’s spending Bill, GOP leader Kevin McCarthy stood on the Senate floor shouting for lawmakers to stop the bill.

“This is a monstrosity that is one of the most shameful acts I’ve ever seen in this body,” he said. “The appropriations process has failed the American public.”

McCarthy further argued most of the lawmakers would be checked out and that they would not read the bill, voting by proxy ahead of the holiday weekend. It didn’t matter, lawmakers passed the bill.
“It was sad to hear the minority leader earlier say that this legislation is the ‘most shameful thing to be seen on the House floor in this Congress.’ I can’t help but wonder, had he forgotten Jan. 6?” Pelosi mocked in response to McCarthy’s outrage.

“They pass the continuing resolution for the people so the government wouldn’t shut down. What date did they pick? Well, let’s think of right before Christmas so members won’t be here,” he said.
The House minority leader, who is running to replace Pelosi as House speaker, even threatened the 18 Senate Republicans who voted for it, saying they would not receive assistance for their legislation if Republicans gained control of the House on January 3.

Nonetheless, the spending bill passed the lower chamber by a vote of 226-201 on Friday, with nine Republicans joining Democrats in support and one Democrat voting present. It will now be sent to Joe Biden’s desk for signature.

“The omnibus will damage our country, & the blatant disregard for Article I, Section 5 of our Constitution will forever stain this Congress,” McCarthy said after its passage.
The nine Republicans that voted in favor of passing the bill included Representatives:

Fred Upton of Michigan,
Liz Cheney of Wyoming,
Adam Kinzinger and Rodney Davis of Illinois,
Chris Jacobs and John Katko of New York,
Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania,
Jaime Herrera Butler of Washington State, and
Steve Womack of Arkansas.

These people don’t care – they love that pork in the bill which is money for their pocket book.

Remember that when it is time to vote for them.
