In the late 30’s my family never locked their windows or doors, didn’t lock their cars, and trusted our neighbors. When did we start having to lock all of these things? Hate to say it; but, it started when we allowed foreigners to enter our country and did not insist they learn the values of our country.
The only time the subject was brought up was – when the circus came to town and we were told to “watch our personal belongings” if we went to the circus.
Why is that – they looked just like other people?
What makes people want to steal from others? Is it genes? Why would anyone want to be a criminal? We were taught if you wanted anything – you worked and paid for it. Has our society become a “cat and dog” society?
It is called “values/dignity” and how you were raised. A young person should always remember – when you are tagged with being a “criminal,” that tag never leaves you. If you want and need something – ask the owner – he probably would give it to you to keep you honest or let you work for it.
