The government under the last administration increased the wages of government employees way beyond the level of manufacturing and private business companies.
When I worked in manufacturing, every year, a survey was conducted among the large corporations and compared the wages of the specific positions of employees. The companies in that framework tried to be sure the companies were in the ballpark. At that time, the government jobs were much lower than the corporations. Now all of a sudden the government has far exceeded manufacturing jobs.
The government should conduct a survey and see how out of sinc they are and re-adjust their workers salaries. There salary should include the value of the benefits they receive.
Performance and merit evaluations should be a part of the mix. Also each government job should be evaluated for value – is it really a job that is needed or can it be incorporated within the department with other jobs.
When people who work in the government are able to watch porn on their computer at work – this tells me either they are not doing their job or the job is not needed. Also, if they download any porn website on a government computer at work – it should be immediate termination.
Also, a working rules booklet should be given to each employees that includes rules of being employed.
