Are Jihadists Taking over Europe?
Have the European people given up on democracy? It was surprising when London elected a muslim mayor.

Of all the French soldiers engaged in military operations, half are deployed inside France.
In the four European countries most targeted by terror attacks — Britain, France, Belgium and Germany — the number of official extremists has reached 66,000. That sounds like a real army — on active duty.
◾The terrorists’ ransom is already visible: they have destabilized the democratic process in many European countries and are drafting the terms of freedom of expression. A jihadist takeover of Europe is no longer unthinkable. Islamic extremists are already reaping what they sowed: they successfully defeated Geert Wilders and Marine Le Pen, the only two European candidates who really wanted to fight radical Islam.
◾Europe could be taken over the same way Islamic State took over much of Iraq: with just one-third of Iraqi territory.
“Germany is quietly building a European army under its command,” according to some in the media. Apparently German Chancellor Angela Merkel, after her clash with U.S. President Donald Trump, would like to invest, along with France, in a European army.
At present, however, there is just one real army in Europe — the Jihadist Army, as in the terrorists who struck London on June 3 and murdered seven people, just two weeks after carnage in Manchester.
In the four European countries most targeted by terror attacks — Britain, France, Belgium and Germany — the number of official extremists has reached 66,000. That sounds like a real army, on active duty.
Intelligence officers have identified 23,000 Islamic extremists living in Britain as potential terrorists. The number reveals the real extent of the jihadist threat in the UK. The scale of the Islamist challenge facing the security services was disclosed after intense criticism that many opportunities to stop the Manchester suicide bomber had been overlooked.
French authorities are monitoring 15,000 Islamists, according a database created in March 2015 and managed by France’s Counter-Terrorism Coordination Unit. Different surveys estimate up to 20,000 French radical Islamists.
The number on Belgium’s anti-terror watch-list surged from 1,875 in 2010 to 18,884 in 2017. In Molenbeek, the well-known jihadist nest in the EU capital, Brussels, intelligence services are monitoring 6,168 Islamists. Think about that: 18,884 Belgian jihadists compared to 30,174 Belgian soldiers on active duty.
The number of potential jihadists in Germany has exploded from 3,800 in 2011 to 10,000, according to Hans-Georg Maassen, head of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Germany’s domestic intelligence service).
These Islamists have built a powerful infrastructure of terror inside Europe’s cities. These terror bases are self-segregated, multicultural enclaves in which extremist Muslims promote Islamic fundamentalism and implement Islamic law, Sharia — with the Tower Hamlets Taliban of East London; in the French banlieues [suburbs], and in The Hague’s “sharia triangle”, known as “the mini-caliphate,” in the Netherlands. These extremist Muslims can comfortably get their weapons from the Balkans, where, thanks to Europe’s open borders, they can travel with ease. They can also get their money from abroad, thanks to countries such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia. These Islamists can self-finance through the mosques they run, as well as get “human resources,” donated by unvetted mass migration coming through the Mediterranean.
23,000 potential jihadists in the UK, 18,000 in Belgium, 10,000 in Germany, 15,000 in France. What do these numbers tell us? There might be a war in Europe “within a few years”, as the chief of the Swedish army, General Anders Brännström, told the men under his command that they must expect.
Take what happened in Europe with the terror attacks from 1970 to 2015:
“4,724 people died from bombings. 2,588 from assassinations. 2,365 from assaults. 548 from hostage situations. 159 from hijackings. 114 from building attacks. Thousands were wounded or missing”.
Terrorism across Europe has killed 10,537 people in 18,803 reported attacks. And it is getting worse:
“Attacks in 2014 and 2015 have seen the highest number of fatalities, which includes terrorists targeting civilians, government officials, businesses and the media, across Europe since 2004”.
A jihadist takeover of Europe is no longer unthinkable. Islamic extremists are already reaping what they sowed: they successfully defeated Geert Wilders and Marine Le Pen, the only two European candidates who really wanted to fight radical Islam. What if tomorrow these armed Islamists assault the Parliament in Rome, election polls in Paris, army bases in Germany or schools in London, in a Beslan-type attack?
The terrorists’ ransom is already visible: they have destabilized the democratic process in many European countries and are drafting the terms of freedom of expression. They have been able to pressure Europe into moving the battle-front from the Middle East to Europe itself. Of all the French soldiers engaged in military operations, half are deployed inside France; in Italy, more than half of Italian soldiers are used in “Safe Streets,” the operation keeping Italy’s cities safe.
After 9/11, the United States decided to fight the Islamists in Afghanistan and Iraq, not to have to fight them in Manhattan. Europe chose the opposite direction: it as if Europe had accepted to turn its own cities into a new Mosul.
If Europe’s leaders do not act now to destroy the enemy within, the outcome may well come to be an “Afghan scenario,” in which Islamists control part of the territory from where they launch attacks against cities. Europe could be taken over the same way Islamic State took over much of Iraq: with just one-third of Iraqi territory.
There are a great many jihadists ready to participate in terrorist acts, many willing to die in the process (and increasing in numbers every day), but they are not yet prepared to do anything of consequence. Most of them are stupid, fanatical, and have no money, organization, or the skills it would take to make them capable of anything beyond the crude, small-scale attacks they have so far been involved in.
They have the potential to do great damage, and possibly take over Europe in the future (if the uncontrolled inflow of Muslims continues), but not without the organization, intelligent leadership, and the financial resources to raise the sort of destruction they’re capable of to a devastating level — when they’re able to mount attacks killing thousands, or tens of thousands at a time, then they will be in a position to challenge, and maybe defeat, the existing order. Mr. Meotti is right — now is the time to take them out. The longer it’s delayed, the more difficult and expensive (in both blood and money) it will become.
In spite of these numbers, I don’t see any sense of urgency from the Europeans. They would rather just carry on as if nothing is happening. Maybe it’s just that they truly do believe that history is over with and it can never touch them. That they and they alone will never join the legions of the dead slaughtered when islamists decided they wanted to conquer their land. Frankly, it’s beginning to remind me of all the people still defending communism by saying that if we only try it one more time it will work.
Mr. Meotti has been like a voice crying in the wilderness, warning Europe and the rest of us of what is to come, but most of the leaders and their citizens have chosen not to heed anyone and instead, sup with the devil.
This is going to lead to a nightmare scenario of Islamic jihadist guerrilla warfare, which by it’s very nature, is almost impossible to beat.
This has come about because Westerners have mostly rejected God and his moral law, causing them to be blinded by their unbelief and loss of wisdom – a gift only from God.
For how many years was Spain occupied by Islam before Queen Isabella defeated them and deported them? It looks like Western Europe will relive history, converting to survive or paying a slave tax to be allowed to retain their own religion. Marxist Jews, who aid the Islamists, will fare worse because Jews, irrespective of political stance, are number one on Islam’s shxt list and will be butchered if they fail to flee in time. Eastern Europe – Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Romania and perhaps the rest of the Balkans will maintain walls and survive, perhaps thrive. Canada will become the third world country of the Americas if Trudeau and his lunatic followers are not thrown out.
America will survive mainly because of Trump.
Another great article by G. Meotti. The fact that in Belgium, there are two Jihadists for every three soldiers is stunning. When will people revolt against unfettered immigration?
Why send our U.S. Troops to fight their Holy War in the Middle East when they have brought it to Europe and America and we need our troops here defending our Constitution – Sovereignty – Immigration Laws – Identification Laws – and Arresting and Deporting enemies of our nation.
You are correct. When I think of all the American boys who gave their lives for that God forsaken continent last century it turns my stomach. Let them simmer in their own stupidity. No more American blood bailing them out. Trump is right. NATO is obsolete. Let them defend themselves for once in the last 70 years. It will do them good and perhaps slap them out of the stupor they’ve been in. As far as the author’s assertion that Merkel is interested in developing some national defense force, against the threat that she created and is still committed to no less; well I’ll believe that when I see it.
As EU founder Jean Monnet wrote in his memoirs, “Europe will be forged in crises and will be the sum of the solutions adopted for those crises.” Whatever the EU leadership does is designed to create crises, for which they already have solutions, whether adopted openly or in secret. Yes, they are that deliberate and self-serving; since the financial crisis (caused by the European Central Bank in a great degree) did not get them the power they lusted after, this is the next phase.
There is a huge difference between the continent of Europe and the artifice of Iraq: the latter was already Muslim. Europe is still the home of the historic enemy of Islam; therefore, admitting significant numbers of Muslims in is still a power play on the EU elites’ part.
Excuse me, Giulio, it is not the jihadists who stopped Geert Wielders and Marine LePen but those brainwashed by the left Europeans. The situation in Europe would have never come to this state if not the European leaders. Europeans continue voting for the same destructive individuals like Merkel, and others, who are paving the road for islamic terror. Europeans can only blame themselves for this progressing mass suicide. Unfortunately USA and Canada are not too far from this cultural demise.
When do EU leaders change their tune? Maybe they all own property in the USA and can jet away at a moment’s notice, leaving their sheep behind to do their patriotic best in the face of conquest.
This is what happens when a country’s native birth rate drops, and when it lets liberals and multiculturalists take over.
And why would the EU ever consider letting Turkey be a member when that would mean tens of millions of Muslims moving to Europe?
Europe’s problems are of its own making.
The problem is not “radical Islam” The problem is Islam. As dangerous and as threatening as violent jihadis are, it is the immigration of “moderate” Muslims practicing political and demographic jihad that will and are foisting sharia on us.
Thank you for all the information. UE must to be blind if we do not that a war is coming. Fantastic news from GSI, you expose a very clear point of view.
The answer to the question “are jihadists taking over Europe?” IS, SADLY, YES! YES! AND YES !!! It should be obvious by now. Unfortunately, it is probably too late. Europeans must have been sleeping while Europe was going to hell, slowly, but surely. THE BARBARIANS ARE TAKING OVER, AND WHAT USED TO BE THE CIVILIZED WORLD, IS GOING TO HELL. Thank you Giulio Meotti and Gatestone.
I think that the entire Europe will perish one day by these 66,000 Muslim extremists if these foolish European politicians follow the usual policy of lighting the candles and putting the flowers after every terrorist attacks, without dumping these barbaric wild animals (Muslim extremists) into the sea as was done to Osama-Bin-Laden.
“If Europe’s leaders do not act now to destroy the enemy within, the outcome may well come to be an “Afghan scenario,” in which Islamists control part of the territory from where they launch attacks against cities.”
Already happening in the Philippines so not that far fetched …. from today’s TOL
It is time for Muslims to face some facts. Firstly these perpetrators are not a tiny minority. MI5 claims there are 23000 willing to do us harm in UK alone. Secondly these people are embedded within the very heart of apparently benign Muslim communities and it is only Muslims themselves who know them and can extricate this cancer in their midst but they are too afraid to do so for fear of becoming a target themselves. Thirdly they can no longer pretend that Islamism has nothing to do with Islam. The Wahhabis and Salafis are minority but nonetheless mainstream sects coming directly out of Saudi Arabia, the very birthplace of Islam and the home of the two holiest sites, Mecca and Medina.
It is the equivalent of the Vatican spreading a virulent barbaric version of Christianity throughout the world poisoning the entire religion.
Europistan is now in existence. Politicians “decide” by Islamic terror terms. Soon it will be over. No more churches, no more democracy; Shariah will rule all over. You did not listen when Israel told you that Islamic terror anywhere is all the same Islamic terror with different names. Europistan enjoy your own “resistance.” You earned it.
Did Europe sell its soul to the devil?
