‘Stunned’: Justice Alito melts down as colleagues buck Trump

The Supreme Court refused to let President Donald Trump freeze billions in foreign aid. In his dissent, Justice Samuel Alito wrote that he was “stunned” that the court would not allow Trump’s order to stand, Law & Crime reported Wednesday.

The court issued a 5-4 ruling denying the Trump administration’s request to stop an order from a federal judge to pay almost $2 million in foreign aid funding on work that is already done. Alito called the judge’s decision “an act of judicial hubris.”

“Does a single district-court judge who likely lacks jurisdiction have the unchecked power to compel the Government of the United States to pay out (and probably lose forever) 2 billion taxpayer dollars?”Alito wrote. “The answer to that question should be an emphatic ‘No,’ but a majority of this Court apparently thinks otherwise. I am stunned.”

Trump froze the funds, which are from USAID and the State Department, as he seeks to shrink the federal government. Nonprofit groups sued, arguing that the move went above Congress’ authority. Trump has since dismantled USAID.

Alito, along with Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh argued that U.S. District Judge Amir H. Ali stepped beyond his authority in his decision. Chief Justice John Roberts, as well as Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Ketanji Brown Jackson and Amy Coney Barrett comprised the majority.

Experts have been keeping an eye on whether the Supreme Court will align with Trump during his second administration.

“The unsigned order does not actually require the Trump administration to immediately make up to $2 billion in foreign aid payments; it merely clears the way for the district court to compel those payments, presumably if it is more specific about the contracts that have to be honored,” said Steve Vladeck, CNN Supreme Court analyst and professor at Georgetown University Law Center.

“The fact that four justices nevertheless dissented – vigorously – from such a decision is a sign that the Court is going to be divided, perhaps along these exact lines, in many of the more impactful Trump-related cases that are already on their way,” he added.

Alito said that the Supreme Court failed in its responsibility to make sure the Constitution “is not abused.”

“Today, the Court makes a most unfortunate misstep that rewards an act of judicial hubris and imposes a $2 billion penalty on American taxpayers,” he wrote. “The District Court has made plain its frustration with the Government, and respondents raise serious concerns about nonpayment for completed work. But the relief ordered is, quite simply, too extreme a response. A federal court has many tools to address a party’s supposed nonfeasance. Self-aggrandizement of its jurisdiction is not one of them. I would chart a different path than the Court does today, so I must respectfully dissent.”

Break Through It All (feat. Kellin Quinn)

Song by

SEGATomoya Ohtani

(Yeah!)

Don’t look down!
Don’t look down!

I’ve been here waiting for the longest time
I can’t believe it’s real
You lose the battles that you never fight
Can’t hide from what you feel
Come on!

No more compromise
This is do or die
And now you’ve crossed the line
You’ll wake the beast inside
No more compromise
This is do or die
I’ll warn you one last time
You’ll wake the beast inside!

You’ll wake the beast inside!

You’ll wake the beast inside!

Don’t look down!
Don’t look down!

So break through it all, and don’t look down
You won’t fade out
‘Cuz the fire in you never dies

It comes around
To light the flame
They’ll know your name
Burned into their memory

(So break through it all)
Don’t stop, we’re on a mission
Overdriving over all the competition
Counting up the damage when it’s done

(So break through it all)
We can’t pretend to listen
Sorry if it puts you in an imposition
We won’t stop until the battle’s won

What goes around
Comes back around again

And if we don’t come down
We’ll be lost in the wind

I know that we will find our way
We’ll do whatever it will take
And if we never reach the crown
We’ll take the whole thing down!

Don’t look down!
Don’t look down!

KOMMONSENTSJANE -Elon Musk’s New Target: Selling Off the Post Office

03/05/2025

Why aren’t the representatives in the Democratic Party never concerned about parts of the government who are always over-spending or can’t explain their loses, i.e., Pentagon/Post Office, etc.? It always seems to be a given or they never question this?

The railroad/post offices have to be structured/run as a business.

Something the representatives/leaders of the government have not learned is – the government is a business not a piggy bank – and that is the problem.

The railroad and the post offic need to be treated as such. A good example is during elections the Democrats use the post office to advance their election votes – manipulating the mail-in votes by adding or subtracting the votes.

Is that why the Democrats are bashing Musk?

The government must be more advanced in their thinking rather than “doing business” the old ways which are the horse and buggy days.

The Democrats line of thinking is – if you have a post office box at their station(s) – you can’t have anything delivered to your home address become you do not have a POST OFFIC BOX in front of your house. Does that make sense when I can receive a United Parcel Post /Amazon/etc. package – they can deliver it to my home even though I don’t have a mail box in front of my home?

Elon Musk’s newest targets in his quest to slash the federal government: the United States Postal Service and the national passenger railroad company Amtrak.

The DOGE chief said Wednesday at a Morgan Stanley tech conference, “Logically, we should prioritize anything that can reasonably be privatized… We should privatize the post office and Amtrak,” according to CNN.

“To understand the federal government, it is like a corporate takeover at scale,” Musk also said, “but one where the company is actually in much worse shape than any commercial company could ever be.”

While Musk has spent the weeks since Donald Trump’s inauguration leveling accusations of fraud at the federal government and cutting programs he disagrees with, this seems to be the first time that he has publicly advocated for the privatization of these two high-profile government organizations.Elon Musk delivers remarks during a Cabinet meeting held by U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on February 26, 2025 in Washington, DC. / Andrew Harnik / Getty Images

Privatizing the USPS—which in recent years has faced dramatic financial difficulties, losing billions each year—has long been floated as an idea to make the service more effective.

Trump has been mulling the option since before he entered office, according to The Washington Post.Related video: Unelected Elon dubbed ‘CEO of the country’ inking deals leaving U.S. ‘less safe,’ critic says (MSNBC)

“There is a lot of talk about the Postal Service being taken private,” he said in December. “It’s a lot different today, between Amazon and UPS and FedEx and all the things that you didn’t have. But there is talk about that. It’s an idea that a lot of people have liked for a long time.”

Last month, the Post reported that Trump was considering attempting to seize control of the USPS by way of an executive order, which could violate federal law. He hasn’t done so yet.

However, privatizing the postal service could have serious downsides, especially for rural communities and small businesses. The agency’s “universal service obligation” means that it will deliver to distant parts of the country regardless of whether doing so is profitable. An Amtrak passenger train pass by Waldo Stadium before the college football game between the Kent State Golden Flashes and Western Michigan Broncos on October 26, 2024, at Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo, MI. / Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

Likewise, proposals to privatize Amtrak have also come up in the past amid the organization’s financial difficulties. While the railroad service is majority-owned by the government and relies on federal subsidies, it is already run as a for-profit company.

While supporters argue that taking the passenger railroad private would make it operate more efficiently, critics of the idea point to the many problems that emerged when Britain privatized its passenger rail service in the 1990s. It resulted in greater service lapses and further financial issues, yet still required significant government subsidies.

If Musk follows through on his words, the two agencies would just be the latest on which he has sicced his DOGE team. The squad has already infiltrated numerous government organizations, including the Department of Education, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.

****

The Democrats will never agree on anything that Musk recommends because his mind is so far above their heads they can’t comprehend anything called “CHANGE” unless you talk about the change in their pockets. And, the fact, it doesn’t have corruption or fraud incorporated in it – then – they are not interested because their take is not included.

If you will note most of their bill allocations are for outside countries and are all frivolous.
