Elon Musk Lets Everyone Know Exactly Where He Stands On The 2nd Amendment [WATCH]
On Sunday, tech mogul Elon Musk unequivocally voiced his support for the Second Amendment, highlighting its critical role in preventing tyranny.
Musk conveyed his stance through his social media platform X, directly addressing the current debates on gun control in the U.S., which included remarks from Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock of Georgia.
Musk’s post outlined a strong stance on the fundamental right to bear arms, stating, “The right to bear arms is there to protect free speech and stop a tyrannical government from taking your rights away! That’s why the first thing that all tyrants do is disarm the people, just like Chavez did when he was first elected. After that, no more real elections in Venezuela.”
His message struck a chord with conservatives and supporters of the Second Amendment, earning praise from a wide range of sources.
Musk’s remarks were made in reaction to an NBC News interview with Senator Warnock, where Kristen Welker asked about Kamala Harris’ position on mandatory gun buyback programs.
During her 2020 presidential campaign, Harris expressed approval for these measures, but has since become less definitive in her support for mandatory buybacks.
Senator Warnock emphasized the urgency of enacting legislative measures in Congress to tackle gun violence. He pointed to the Safer Communities Act, passed two years ago, as a modest yet life-saving step.
However, he stressed that more action is necessary in light of recent tragic events, including the school shooting in Winder, Georgia, which resulted in four deaths.
On the other hand, Musk, who has previously voiced support for former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election, reaffirmed his belief in the Second Amendment as a vital safeguard against government overreach.
In a 2022 interview with CNBC, Musk explained, “I strongly believe that the right to bear arms is an important safeguard against potential tyranny of government. Historically, maintaining their power over the people is why those in power did not allow public ownership of guns.”
During the ongoing political debates, Trump has stated that if he wins the November election, he plans to appoint Musk to head a government efficiency commission.
This announcement was made during a speech at the Economic Club of New York, where Trump outlined his proposal to conduct a thorough audit of the federal government in order to improve efficiency.
Musk responded to Trump’s announcement with humility and a sense of duty, posting on X, “I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises. No pay, no title, no recognition is needed.”
