Biden administration Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg doubled down on his trademark – and oft-mocked – “racist roads” rhetoric, attributing a racial component to traffic accidents involving “black and brown Americans” and “tribal citizens.”

“We’ve got a crisis when it comes to roadway fatalities in America, we lose about 40,000 people every year,” Buttigieg told MSNBC’s Al Sharpton. “It’s a level that is comparable to gun violence, and we see a lot of racial disparities.”

“Black and brown Americans, tribal citizens, and rural residents much more likely to lose their lives whether it’s in a car, or as a pedestrian being hit by a car,” the failed 2020 presidential primary candidate claimed.

Buttigieg continued, “There are a lot of reasons related to discrimination, related to even the ways that roads are designed and built, who has access to a safe street design that’s got crosswalks and good lighting. Who doesn’t have that access? That can drive disparities and we have a responsibility to act on that.”

Pete Buttigieg attacked former president Donald Trump for visiting the site of the toxic chemical spill in East Palestine, Ohio in March.

Buttigieg made the comments during an interview with CNN over the weekend.

“It’s really rich to see some of these folks – the former president, these Fox hosts,” Buttigieg seethed, “who are literally lifelong card-carrying members of the East Coast elite, whose top economic policy priority has always been tax cuts for the wealthy, and who wouldn’t know their way around a T.J. Maxx if their life depended on it, to be presenting themselves as if they genuinely care about the forgotten middle of the country?”

“You think Tucker Carlson knows the difference between a T.J. Maxx and a Kohl’s?” he continued.

Buttigieg denied that President Donald Trump’s visit to East Palestine pressured him to show up as well. “That’s bullshit, we were already going to go,” he insisted.rom-racist-car-crashes/
