From the looks of things – nobody read the bill. Too much pork. Can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear! Elected folks not doing their job.

Omnibus bill does not take care of domestic security
I am saddened to see that Senator John Cornyn voted for the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill that will fund our federal government for the next year. The 4,155-page omnibus spending bill was only made available to our senators a few days before they voted.
Do you think Senator Cornyn actually read the bill and knows what’s in it?
Well, it increases spending by $118 billion. It has $45 billion for Ukraine and hundreds of millions for border protection funding in other countries such as Egypt and Tunisia, yet nothing is in there to secure our own borders. In fact, the bill limits our ability to secure the border, with language that says this money can only be used to process people. It also contains over 7,200 earmarks for politicians’ favorite unnecessary home state pet projects.
The real travesty is that the omnibus bill continues to fund federal agencies that are clearly not doing their job, such as Homeland Security, who fail to protect our border, or the partisan FBI, who directly interfere in our elections and target conservatives, including parents who speak against (Critical Race Theory) and the sexualization of our children at school board meetings, abuse the (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) warrant process and raid a former president’s personal home.
The omnibus bill, endorsed by 18 Republican senators and 9 Republican House representatives, is a complete disaster for the American people. A simple short-term CR (continuing resolution) could have been approved to allow the new Republican-controlled House to attempt to reign in spending in January.
The current legislative process is broken. It does not intend nor allow for members of Congress to carefully deliberate policy decisions. No doubt such deliberation would likely result in greater opposition and far fewer earmarks but far better decisions for “We the People.”
