One of the most ironically conceived phrases I’ve ever heard came about fairly recently. The formula was first coined by late columnist and conservative pundit Charles Krauthammer. As is typical of those who simply can’t imagine why non-conservatives might object to a conservative president, they have to dummy it down to “They must be crazy”. Thus Krauthammer coined the term ‘Bush Derangement Syndrome’. It didn’t take off, I would speculate, because it had too many ‘big words’ in it. Okay, maybe in 2003 there just wasn’t quite the same viral partisan presence on the internet yet.
I liked Krauthammer. He was, for a short time, one of the last bastions of conservative sanity in the media. He did go to the dark side for a bit along with Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson, but as an intellectual he could not maintain the farce as easily as those whose conscience…
