Sorry for the delay – but, Google was in an unfriendly mood yesterday and was in no mood for religion – especially God. In fact, they were in such a bad mood – they exploded and went down – down last evening.
Sunday Devotional: Rejoice Always
Posted on December 13, 2020 by Dr. Eowyn
1 Thessalonians 5:16-24
Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing.
In all circumstances give thanks,
for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
Do not quench the Spirit.
Do not despise prophetic utterances.
Test everything; retain what is good.
Refrain from every kind of evil.
May the God of peace make you perfectly holy
and may you entirely, spirit, soul, and body,
be preserved blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The one who calls you is faithful,
and he will also accomplish it.
To rejoice is to gladden; be delighted; and to fill with joy.
Joy is more than happiness. Joy isn’t just a smile or a laugh. It is a state of mind and an orientation of the heart — a settled state of contentment, confidence and hope. Joy is something that is deep within and doesn’t leave quickly. Joy comes from God. When we have the joy of the Lord, we’ll know it and so will others.
On this third Sunday of Advent, do not be disheartened by the darkness of our culture, polity and society, but take to heart St. Paul’s words to the Thessalonians:
Rejoice in the Lord, always!
May the joy and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you,
