You may have been a rat too. Cohen is a rat, he was Trump’s lawyer. You trust your lawyer to keep all things confidential. All the legislative oversight committee lawyers ( the elected reps) understand this. However, all integrity, all rules of the legal barr are tossed aside when it comes to the Democrats agenda for now and especially 2020 when it comes to dealing with Donald Trump.
