Victory and defeat have different definitions. But the following is forming the confusion:

Hardly was ISIS the only reason the U.S. has maintained a presence in Syria. The intent for years was to support a coup against the Assad government in Damascus — in part by training and equipping jihadists often allied with ISIS (Hillary/McCain). For at least the past six months, the U.S. military’s intent in Syria has been to counter Iranian influence.

If ISIS is not the enemy and we are fighting with them against Iran – there is no ISIS enemy. The enemy – ISIS – is like “my father was your father last year” after a divorce. It is time to be more specific.

The President is right. These are religious wars and there is no end to the struggle. Are we going to continue to send our young people and money for naught and end up destroying our own country?
