No, you are not a “free loader.” You are exercising your right as an American. Unions remind me of a “communist” state. During my employment I did just what you did because I witnessed what unions do to people – but, like you, to have the job I started with was a union-covered job. I let them do their job and I did my job. It was a relief when I was part of management and did not have to worry about the union. In today’s world, the union is too political.

Performing your job to meet the criteria is fine – if that is what you want to do; but, in order to be recognized as exceptional – you need to put out extra effort to show you are a leader not a follower.

Always remember – the sky is the limit and it is in your hands  to show you have “star ” quality.
