It has always been my understanding – when a threat is made on any human being’s life, that it should be taken seriously and the person making the threat is arrested and charged. This is not any different than screaming “fire” in a public space. These people have to be taken seriously and taken into custody and charged.
Threatening the President of the United States is a class E felony under United States Code Title 18, Section 871.[45][46] The offense is punishable by up to 5 years in prison,[45] a $250,000 maximum fine,[47] a $100 special assessment,[48] and 3 years of supervised release.[49] Internet restrictions such as a prohibition on access to email have been imposed on offenders who made their threats by computer.
This business that these nut jobs spewing this threat are now calling it a “joke” should be shown that it is not something that after it is said that you can say it is a joke. All of these people making these threats need to be shown that the “joke” is on them and arrest them and make them pay a stiff fine. Or are we still under the “Obama” rule protection where the law only pertains to the liberal side of certain groups like terrorists?
