KOMMONSENTSJANE – EMINENT DOMAIN AND STUMPY

Our son was a pro at the Innisbrook Golf Resort in Tarpon Springs, Florida, for many years.  The resort had three courses, Copperhead Course, Sandpipper Course, and then the Island Course.  You had your choice of which course you wanted to play – if you played the Sandpipper or Island Course, fruit orchards were built in between the two courses consisting of oranges and grapefruit and the players would pick fruit to consume which was allowed.

Then there was the Island Course  and the No. 1 tee box was run by an alligator called Stumpy.  People named him Stumpy because part of his tail was cut off. Stumpy was in charge of this tee box.  The pro in charge would warn you in advance – Stumpy used the tee box for daily sunning; and, if he was on the tee box you did not disturb him.

In order to use the tee box to tee off, you just adjusted to his position on the tee box.  Just plant your tee and ball either in front or back of him – just don’t disturb him.  For a newcomer to the course, it did prove stressful; but, most of the old timers on the course knew how to work around Stumpy – just don’t bother him.

The following video will tell you what not to do when there are occupants on the course – eminent domain does not work.  This tells you the mentality of an avid golfer who made the mistake of thinking his golf ball was worth more than his life.  He was lucky to have survived without a loss of any limb.
