KOMMONSENTSJANE – STEPHANOPOULOS STATES, SO SORRY

Now that he got caught George thinks all he needs to do is apologize – that is a true blue Socialist Democrat – don’t they all do that. Now that the apology is over, every thing is out in the open, and he doesn’t have to hide his donations any longer – he is thinking – what a relief, I bet he hasn’t been sleeping so good just wondering when the public is going to catch up with him. Now that the air has been cleared – everyone is supposed to move on just like his boss.   George, we know the stripes on your back – you didn’t have us fooled for a minute – that is why we don’t tune you in. We just tune you out.

I wonder what George was thinking when he interviewed Peter Schweizer who wrote the book, entitled, The Clinton Cash.  Just think in George’s mind, I bet he thought, “I know something you don’t know during the interview!”

George Stephanopoulos Apologizes to Viewers on Clinton Donations

George Stephanopoulos, the ABC News chief news anchor, told “Good Morning America” viewers on Friday that it was a “mistake” for him to donate $75,000 over the last three years to the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, and he apologized for not disclosing the contribution.

On Thursday, Mr. Stephanopoulos said he had given the foundation three $25,000 donations from 2012 to 2014. The “Good Morning America” co-host addressed viewers for a little more than 30 seconds on Friday morning.

“Now I want to address some news you may have seen about me,” he said, looking directly into the camera. “Over the last several years I’ve made substantial donations to dozens of charities, including the Clinton Global Foundation. Those donations were a matter of public record but I should have made additional disclosures on air when we covered the foundation. And I now believe that directing personal donations to that foundation was a mistake.”

He continued: “Even though I made them strictly to support work done to stop the spread of AIDS, help children, and protect the environment in poor countries, I should have gone the extra mile to avoid even the appearance of a conflict. I apologize to all of you for failing to do that.”

Mr. Stephanopoulos is a former strategist for Bill Clinton, and news of the donations Thursday brought renewed claims of bias from some Republican lawmakers, who view the news anchor as sympathetic to the Clinton’s.

The network said Thursday that Mr. Stephanopoulos had its support but added that he had violated ABC News rules for not disclosing a charitable donation that would present a conflict of interest.

“The issue here wasn’t the charitable giving,” an ABC spokeswoman said. “It was failing to disclose it when covering the recent reports about the foundation.”

Mr. Stephanopoulos is the face of ABC News, and hosts both “Good Morning America” and the Sunday morning program, “This Week.” He was appointed chief anchor last year. “Good Morning America” is the top-rated morning news program and a major profit center for the network.

****************

The Republican National Committee told ABC News that it would not agree to have George Stephanopoulos moderate a debate well before news broke of the anchor’s donations to the Clinton Foundation.  When will these Republicans wake up – don’t they remember what Candy Crowley (lied)  did to Mitt Romney to make him look bad?

The R.N.C.’s insistence, which Republicans said was nonnegotiable, casts in a new light Mr. Stephanopoulos’s announcement on Thursday that he would recuse himself from a Republican debate scheduled for February. And it raises questions about whether he was being entirely straightforward when he said that the revelations about his $75,000 contributions to the foundation had led him to the conclusion that he should bow out.

On Thursday, Mr. Stephanopoulos told The New York Times: “I just want to make sure that I’m not a distraction there, and our viewers are not deprived of that debate. So I’m not going to moderate that debate.”

Two Republicans said Friday that the decision was not Mr. Stephanopoulos’s to make, because the R.N.C. had already made its position clear.

But ABC News said Friday that the decision was not at the sole discretion of R.N.C., either.

“ABC News decides who moderates ABC News debates,” the network said in a statement.

The debate planning is still in its early stages, and the network said that it had not decided which of its journalists would serve as moderators. That included Mr. Stephanopoulos.

“The G.O.P. primary debate is nine months away,” the network statement added. “Before George recused himself, we hadn’t made any decisions about our debate coverage team.”

There were also concerns of journalistic independence. As a news organization, ABC would be reluctant to let a political party dictate the terms of a debate that is to appear on its network.

Earlier on Friday, Mr. Stephanopoulos apologized to viewers on “Good Morning America” for not being more forthcoming.

From the looks of things ABC will probably give him a big ole fat raised.
