The Lincoln, Nebraska,  Superintendent Steve Joel defended his gender sensitivity training for  teachers at the Lincoln middle school today.  It seems that teachers were given a handout in their teacher training class entitled, “12 Easy Steps on the Way to Gender Inclusiveness,” advising teachers to avoid separating students by gender, but instead by birth dates or preferences between skateboards or bikes, milk or juice, dogs or cats, summer or winter. Do they not have any respect for the students?  What an insult!  Whatever happened to informing the parents and receiving their feedback?  

Much of the derision has stemmed from a training suggestion that teachers “Create classroom names and then ask all of the purple penguins to meet at the rug.”  (Can you believe this?)  Joel said teachers weren’t told to call students purple penguins, but to think about gender neutral phrases that could be used, such as scholars, students, kids or Wildcats, which he said has been in practice for several years.   He also stressed that no one has mandated to stop using the terms boys and girls or ladies and gentlemen, and there were no changes being made to bathrooms in the schools.  The teachers were instructed they are allowed to use boys and girls in the classroom; but to be sensitive to the needs of all students and those with gender identity issues who are particularly vulnerable to bullying and suicide.

Whatever happened to calling a person by their given name?  How about class or students,  It is very evident why Joel received hundreds of angry emails and calls.  This guy has to be the laughing stock of many radio and TV shows.  Surely this wasn’t the superintendent’s idea?  Whoever came up with the idea must have been smoking something.  As I have said on many occasions, parents need to check out any school in which they have a child.  There are a lot of good teachers out there; but, the nutty ones are out there, too!  Just think if they are doing this kind of stupid stuff – what else are they doing to the students!

Another good example is Harvard – where these liberal professors have brain-washed these young people to turn against their own country.  And to think our tax dollars are going to pay for the salaries at these colleges to warp the brains of our future leaders.  Something must be done to equalize the ratio of liberal to conservative professors.  We must press our state governors to step up to the plate and see that something is done and right away.
