Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is a psychiatric disorder in which there are significant problems of attention, hyperactivity or acting impulsively that are not appropriate for a person’s age. ADHD and its diagnosis have been controversal since the 70’s. Medication and counseling are the first line of defense. The long-term effects of meds are not known and are not recommended for school age children. Most healthcare providers accept ADHD as a genuine disorder with debate in the scientific community, mainly how it is diagnosed and treated. It has been noted time and time again that some of our young children seem to be infected with ADHD – so they say. Some of the children who are identified with this ailment all seem to be normal children with excessive energy levels that have not been challenged. When the lazy educational system eliminated recess for children they made a horrible mistake because children have excess energy and need that time to exert it. They don’t seem to comprehend that children are children – not robots. What a beautiful site to pass a school playground and children are running and playing and not holed up in a classroom all day long with their technology gadgets and then being tagged as having ADHD and medicated.
