In America, we have cultures from all over the world who enjoy their freedom to worship as they wish. At this time of the year as Easter is approaching and all us have witnessed a nice cold winter which is good because it kills all of the bacteria, we can now reflect on the birth of a new season – Spring. The flowers are blooming – especially the blue bonnets and Indian paint brush – and are absolutely gorgeous. We all have had our religious teachings in one form or fashion and they have impacted us in our lives as we develop. Our leader, according to his upbringing, has been exposed to Catholicism and Islam.
He is noted for a number of statements in this regard such as – “the future must not belong to those who slander the Prophet of Islam; the sweetest sound I know is the Muslim call to prayer; as a student of history, I also know civilization’s debt to Islam; Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance; America and Islam are not exclusive and need not be in competition – instead they overlap, and share common beings; Islam has always been part of America; and, lastly, I made clear that America is not and never will be at war with Islam.”
These are all important beliefs for this religion and that is good. The important part is: it has to be incorporated and respected as just another religion in our country and not exclusive but inclusive.
We have that right in America and not one of us knows what is the real story until we leave this earth – we can only believe and hope!
