Is the following for real or was this made up? The list consists of some of the questions which were supposedly set in last year’s GED examination and are genuine answers from 16 year olds and older.
Question: Name the four seasons. Answer: Salt, pepper, mustard, and vinegar.
Question: How is dew formed? Answer: The sun shines down on the leaves and makes them perspire.
Question: In a democratic society, how important are elections? Answer: Very important. Sex can only happen when a male gets an election.
Question: What happens to a boy when he reaches puberty? Answer: He says goodbye to his boyhood and looks forward to adultery.
Question: What is the fibula? Answer: A small lie.
Question: What is a terminal illness? Answer: When you are sick at the airport.
Question: What is a turbine? Answer: Something an Arab or Sheik wears on his head.
From the looks of these answers, we need to go back and re-examine our teaching models.
