CAN OF WORMS!

The poll of public opinion is a method of learning what people think about current problems.  A poll can find out what millions of people think by asking a small number of those millions how they feel about it, provided that this small number is properly selected.  The process is called sampling.  If a poll is to be reliable, it must be carefully planned.  The six steps in polling are (1) defining the objectives, (2) formulating the questions, (3) pretesting them, (4) selecting the sample, (5) interviewing it, (6) tabulating and analyzing the results.  As has being founded in elections, the polls in America are skewed in order to mislead the people.  Since the American people cannot trust the government or the main stream media to truthfully report the polls, most of the polls are laughed at.  Most of the polls are directed toward the Democratic Socialist party versus the Republican Party and it is best to dismiss the issue because of the bias.  Scholars have analyzed various elections and have found that the mistakes afterwards showed that it did not arise from any weakness in methods or techniques.  Instead, they made mistakes in the selection and application of methods, to poor timing in the final round of interviewing, and to several faulty assumptions involved in making forecasts based on the poll data – garbage in – garbage out.  So all of these polls that are coming out since the government shutdown – take them with a grain of salt – because all of them are geared to send the people the wrong message.  When you hear or see a poll on TV – just smile and say to yourself – really!

Politicians are people who, when they see light at the end of the tunnel, go out and buy some more tunnel.  – John Quinton
