As we all know, the Pope is the title of the spiritual ruler of the Roman Catholic Church. The church regards the pope as its visible head and Jesus Christ as its invisible head. Roman Catholics believe that Christ established the office of pope when he said to Simon, who was also called Peter, or the Rock,
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matt.16:18.
Unlike other positions of authority and leadership, the office of the pope has continued in an unbroken line throughout the years. During this time, every other European institution that existed when it began has fallen. Roman Catholics believe that this is an indication of the divine foundation of their church, enabling it to rise above the human weaknesses of its members.
There have been weaknesses in the church which were swept under the rug for many years; but, at the present time they have been recognized and are being addressed. I do hope the new pope will be a younger pope with a lot of energy and can address all of the problems of the world with the help of his assistants. Whoever this person is, may God bless him in his endeavors, because he will have a full plate.

Pingback: Is the Pope Better Than You and Me? | To Pursue Happiness
You have an excellent story and it is so true for a lot of people – none of us are perfect. We are all sinners, including the Pope. There is no perfect man. It is very hard for women although things are improving. I had an excellent career in the oil industry; but, I find academia does not have enough of a conservative mix with the liberals which makes it difficult for people to receive a well rounded education. The liberals have isolated themselves and have a very narrow outlook on the world’s problems. Yes, intelligence is good; but it can also be a stumbling block in the real world..Yes, I am praying that whoever our new Pope is that he is able to handle all of the problems.
