At the beginning of each year people focus on their budgets, their garages, and their homes to see if there is anything they have not used in the past year and they can get rid of by having a garage sale or donating to charity. I think our government needs to do the same thing – clean house!
There are so many departments and employees that are duplicated and need to be dissolved. We can do this by attrition or just abolishing it. This government needs to have a spring house cleaning and, especially, vacuum under the rugs where all of this dirt has been swept.
They recently removed a tax that was enacted during the Civil War and still have departments that are still working departments from that era. Once a department is established it is there for life. Same thing about employees, my friend, who worked for the government, said if you want a “safe” job – go to work for the government because they cannot fire an employee. Good example is, the State Department who recently said four employees were fired because of the Benghazi attack – guess what – they are still there drawing a pay check. This is our government at work.
