KOMMONSENTSJANE – Colleges Have to Accept Their ACCOUNTABILITY for the Peoples Tax Money They Receive From The Federal TRIO Program.

06/07/2025

Federal outreach and student services programs called THE TRIO PROGRAM.

The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO, also stylized as TRiO) are federal outreach and student services programs in the United States designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. They are administered, funded, and implemented by the United States Department of Education. TRIO includes eight programs targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-baccalaureate programs. TRIO also includes a training program for directors and staff of TRIO projects. Their existence is owed to the passing of the Higher Education Act of 1965.[1]

The left media is trying to belittle these two who are discussing the “lack of due diligence” that has been put on these programs and the fact that colleges are using the peoples tax money and are not held accountable on how it is spent. These colleges have to be held accountable for the money and how it is used.

They must account for how many students use this money and how many graduated from all of these colleges, especially Harvard.

This is just a continuation of “lack of due diligence” by money spent by the left.

Now we have a program that is called DOGE to stop this reckless behavior by the left or right.

Plain and simple.

How will we ever TAME THE BUDGET SPENDING if we don’t harness the spending and make the receivers of the tax money responsible for their spending.

These colleges have to come to the TABLE OF SPENDING WHAT THEY RECEIVE and quit being so irresponsible. These are GROW UPS who know better.

Shame on the media.

KOMMONSENTSJANE – Here’s why tech enthusiasts are embracing “dumb” phones and digital detoxes.,

06/02/2025

This is certainly encouraging that young people are realizing how time-consuming a phone with all of the gadgets is. I have never been hog-tied to my phone. In my eyes people who love their phones need to be constantly entertained and that is okay. I only use my phone when I leave the house for emergency purposes. Otherwise, it is placed in the charging room. I have a land line for house calls.

A growing movement known as “appstinence”—a play on “abstinence”—is gaining traction among millennials and Gen Zers who are searching for a life with less screen time.

Younger demographics have grown up in a fully digital world, but an increasing number are embracing the appeal of “dumb” phones—devices limited to calls and texts—and participating in digital detox events.5 Sleeping Habits For Improved Longevity

youthfulpotential

People who detox from their devices often say that they hope to limit social-media usage. Many also want to talk to friends and family more often in-person or on a phone call, rather than in a text message.

Why It Matters

A study from Pew Research in 2024 found that nearly half of American teens are online “almost constantly,” largely using algorithm-based sites like YouTubeInstagram and Snapchat.

Meanwhile, many digital detoxers report that reducing screen time makes them more productive. Cutting back on screentime can dramatically improve attention spans as well and it can encourage people getting offline to prioritize real-world relationships.

What To Know

“Appstinence” is not about discarding all technology, but about curating its use more intentionally.

Devices like the Light Phone, which intentionally lacks access to email or social media, are designed to serve this purpose. Though pricier than some smartphones, its appeal lies in its simplicity and the promise of reduced distractions.

Users who don’t want to give up their smartphones have options as well. Third-party tools or built-in settings can “brick” specific functions, turning off access to social media, email or browser apps for set periods.

Features like Apple‘s Screen Time or Android‘s Digital Wellbeing, meanwhile, allow users to impose app limits, schedule downtime or monitor screen activity.

Redditors on the r/Futurology forum discussed digital detoxing and where the practice could go.

One user told Newsweein a message that they learned to live without their phone during their time in the military, where they loved the daily eight or nine hours they were without a phone.

“Most of being disconnected for me has been through two themes: finding joy in time-bound opportunities to ditch the phone and removing apps from my phone,” the user said.

“I’d say I’ve been periodically disconnected from my phone for nearly my whole adult life.”

However, they found it “scary” to remove the Facebook app, where they spent hours scrolling during the first administration of President Donald Trump.

When they did, however, the impact was “immediate,” the user said.

‘Boost to my mental health’

“My phone usage as a whole dropped by a further like, 40%, and my Facebook usage went from posting several times a day, to posting once or twice a year overnight because I had to go all the way to my [personal computer], or open the browser and navigate there,” they continued.

“The extra step was enough to give me hours back of my day and a significant boost to my mental health. I think Reddit has now filled that gap, but I’m considering doing the same for Reddit.”

Other commentators on the platform agree that social media is a problem.

“I don’t think phones are even the problem. It’s social media,” another wrote, adding, “When people are addicted to their ‘phones,’ 99% of the time what they’re actually addicted to is TikTok, Instagram, online rage bait, etc…FIRST LOOK: Official Wall Street DOGE Phase II Playbook

“All social media platforms deliberately designed to be as addictive as possible.”

Concerns for Children

Many contributors are concerned for youths growing up in this environment.

“I’m having to tell my own kids that ‘when the time comes,’ not to use their phone as much as I do,” an individual commented.

“It’s like an alcoholic or a 10-pack smoker father-figure having to tell their kids, ‘Do as I say, not as I do—or you’ll turn out like this.'”

Meanwhile, some users spotted some potential downsides to the movement: “It’s wholly ironic how smart people are increasingly using dumber technology, thus making their thoughts and opinions less prevalent and having fewer children.”

Newsweek reached out to users requesting further comment on disconnecting from their phones on May 22.

KOMMONSENTSJANE – Don’t Forget Why the Voters Voted For President Trump..

5/31/2025

Republican Senate/House

Don’t forget the state the Democrats left us in and we need to be more frugal.:

Can we afford this bill – look at the budget clock. Also, ask DOGE to review the bill and ask if we need all of items in the bill.

****

Voters have more confidence in Trump than Harris on economic, immigration and foreign policies. Half or more voters say they are at least somewhat confident in Trump to make good decisions in these areas,

DeSantis seems to be suggesting that without structural reforms like term limits and a balanced budget amendment, even well-intentioned efforts like DOGE will continue to fail against entrenched Washington interests.

Does the “beauty bill” need a fine tuning? Senate needs to take a drink of DOGE AI and speed up the process.

Ron DeSantis dropped this bombshell about Elon Musk’s DOGE that has Republicans furious

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just unleashed a blistering attack on his own party.

The Republican firebrand didn’t hold back in his assessment of Congressional Republicans.

And Ron DeSantis dropped this bombshell about Elon Musk’s DOGE that has Republicans furious.

DeSantis says “the swamp has won” against DOGE’s efforts

President Donald Trump created the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to bring transparency and fiscal responsibility to federal spending.

Led by tech billionaire Elon Musk, DOGE identified billions in wasteful government spending and made recommendations to Congress on how to eliminate it.

But Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said DOGE’s recommendations have been completely ignored by Republicans in Congress.

“Elon Musk went into this DOGE effort. He was getting lampooned. I mean, like, they’re firebombing his Tesla dealerships, media smearing him relentlessly, his businesses suffered—all this stuff—because he basically said, ‘Look, we can’t keep doing this, and we need to moderate and reduce the amount of money that the federal government is spending,’” DeSantis said during a bill signing ceremony in Florida.

DeSantis didn’t mince words about what this revealed about Washington’s power structure.

“DOGE and Elon were on a collision course with the swamp. And the question is, what would happen? And I don’t think there’s any question that DOGE fought the swamp—and so far, the swamp has won,” DeSantis declared.

DeSantis warns inflation is a hidden tax on Americans

The Florida Governor explained that continued deficit spending has real consequences for everyday Americans, whether Congress wants to admit it or not.

“Inflation is a tax. When your money becomes less valuable, that’s no different in outcome than if Congress were to simply just directly tax you. It’s less transparent, it’s more indirect, but it’s having the same exact impact,” DeSantis explained.

He pointed out that Republicans in Congress are failing to live up to their promises of fiscal responsibility.

“We have a Republican Congress, and to this day (we’re at the end of May, past Memorial Day) and not one cent in those cuts has been implemented by the Congress,” DeSantis said.

The former presidential candidate made these comments during a ceremony where he signed a bill making gold and silver legal tender in Florida – a move some see as positioning the state to protect its citizens from further inflation.

DeSantis calls for major structural reforms to fix Washington

DeSantis didn’t just diagnose the problem – he offered bold solutions that would fundamentally change how Washington operates.

https://decide.dev/lad/13821576005261670?pubid=ld-3546-439&pubo=https%3A%2F%2Funmuzzlednews.com&rid=&width=680&path=%2Fron-desantis-dropped-this-bombshell-about-elon-musks-doge-that-has-republicans-furious%2F&x=160.40000915527344&y=3359.28759765625&utm_source=decide&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=umn_2859302226&utm_term=&utm_content=240175&embed_type=7&embed_frame_container_type=3

“That’s one of the reasons why we need a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It’s another reason why we need term limits for members of Congress,” DeSantis stated.

His comments highlight the growing divide between conservatives who want genuine fiscal reform and the establishment wing of the Republican Party that continues to approve massive spending bills.

This latest bombshell from DeSantis suggests that even with Republicans controlling the House of Representatives, the bureaucratic machine in Washington remains largely untouchable.

“This is hardwired into how the people in Washington are borrowing and spending your money. But it has huge implications for the viability of our economy—our country,” DeSantis warned.

The comments come as Congress is preparing to debate another round of spending bills, with few signs that DOGE’s recommended cuts will be included.

This failure to implement any of DOGE’s cost-cutting measures despite Republican control in the House raises serious questions about whether either party is truly committed to fiscal responsibility.

For now, DeSantis seems to be suggesting that without structural reforms like term limits and a balanced budget amendment, even well-intentioned efforts like DOGE will continue to fail against entrenched Washington interests.

KOMMONSENTSJANE – Did Sam Altman Just Present a Shocking AI Roadmap to Congress?

05/30/2025

A Nation of well informed men and women who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the region of ignorance that tyranny begins.

Who is in charge, what is the date of the change-over, and you must keep the old people on hand during the start-up with the new people in case the past needs to be referenced.

Also, the people need to be told what their roll will be in the system when they are replaced with robots. You have to preserve their dignity, if nothing else.

It will be an adjustment like when a person retires after working for 40 years. You restructure your daily schedule and get involved in the community and there will still be a lot of jobs available and businesses run by individuals.

Did Sam Altman Just Present a Shocking AI Roadmap to Congress?

Did Sam Altman Just Present a Shocking AI Roadmap to Congress?

The other day, I came across this post on X:

Turn Your Images On

Unfortunately, what followed was a lot of AI hype without a lot of substance.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman did not offer a fully-fleshed timeline for AI when he testified at the Senate hearing on AI competitiveness earlier this month.

There was no roadmap given. That wasn’t the purpose of this bipartisan hearing anyway.

But what he did say tells us a lot about where AI is heading.

I watched the entire hearing, and here are my most important takeaways…

Sam Altman In His Own Words

The hearing on May 8 was the Senate’s largest since President Trump returned to office.

It was called “Winning the AI Race: Strengthening U.S. Capabilities in Computing and Innovation.” And it reflected the Trump administration’s push to roll back Biden-era rules and eliminate regulatory barriers to AI innovation.

Altman was joined by Microsoft President Brad Smith, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su and CoreWeave CEO Michael Intrator in what was a mostly positive hearing.

But it was also clear early on that Altman has changed his stance on regulation.

Two years ago he said he was open to regulation. Today, he is apparently more concerned with legal clarity than the imposition of more rules.

Altman testified: [Editor’s Note: All testimony is slightly edited for clarity and punctuation.]

We need to make sure that companies like OpenAI and others have legal clarity on how we’re going to operate.

Of course there will be rules. Of course there need to be some guardrails. This is a very impactful technology, but we need to be able to be competitive globally. We need to be able to train, we need to be able to understand how we’re going to offer services and sort of where the rules of the road are going to be.

So clarity there and I think an approach like the internet, which did lead to [the] flourishing of this country in a very big way. We need that again.

This was a common refrain from all of the witnesses, who urged lawmakers to take a hands-off approach to AI.

Republicans, including Sen. Ted Cruz, echoed this view, warning against European-style rules that could hinder U.S. competitiveness with China.

Cruz was also particularly curious about the impact of China’s DeepSeek, asking: “How big a deal was DeepSeek? Is it a major seismic, shocking development from China? Is it not that big a deal? Is it somewhere in between…?”

(DeepSeek and ChatGPT each have unique strengths, making them better suited for different tasks; DeepSeek excels in reasoning and coding, while ChatGPT is superior in conversational fluency and creative content generation. Is this like comparing apples to oranges?)

Altman replied:

Turn Your Images On

Not a huge deal.

There are two things about DeepSeek. One is that they made a good open-source model and the other is that they made a consumer app that for the first time briefly surpassed ChatGPT as the most downloaded AI tool, maybe the most downloaded app.

Overall, there are going to be a lot of good open source models and clearly there are incredibly talented people working at DeepSeek doing great research, so I’d expect more great models to come. Hopefully.

Also us and some of our colleagues will put out great models too on the consumer app. I think if the DeepSeek consumer app looked like it was going to beat ChatGPT and our American colleague’s apps — is the default AI systems that people use — that would be bad. But that does not currently look to us like what’s happening.

Does that mean Altman believes the U.S. is leading in AI development? He testified:

I believe we are leading the world right now. I believe we’ll continue to do so. We want to make AI in the United States and we want the whole world… to benefit from that. I think that is the strongest thing for the United States.

But he and the rest of the tech leaders called for greater investment in AI infrastructure and workforce training, two things I’ve been talking about a lot in the Daily Disruptor.

I believe the only way we beat China in the race to artificial superintelligence (ASI) is if we establish an infrastructure that supports our growing need for more power and compute.

Altman seems to agree.

When asked by Sen. Dan Sullivan: “What would the key things be that you would need from the US government to help us maintain that lead and dominate this space?” Altman replied:

We’ve talked a little bit about infrastructure, but I think we cannot overstate how important that is and the ability to have that whole supply chain or as much of it as possible in the United States. The previous technological revolutions have also been about infrastructure and the supply chain, but AI is different in terms of the magnitude of resources that we need.

So projects like Stargate that we’re doing in the U.S., things like bringing chip manufacturing, certainly chip design to the U.S., permitting power quickly, like these are critical. If we don’t get this right, I don’t think anything else we do can help.

When Sen. Gary Peters pivoted the discussion to AI’s impact on jobs, Altman brought up the importance of workforce training, saying:

The most important thing or one of the most important things I think we can do is to put tools in the hands of people early.

We have a principle that we call iterative deployment. We want people to be getting used to this technology as it’s developed.

We’ve been doing this now for almost five years, since our first product launch as society and this technology co-evolve, putting great capable tools in the hands of a lot of people and letting them figure out the new things that they’re going to do and create for each other and come up with and provide sort of value back to the world…

As for the future of work?

Altman focused on how AI is already changing software development, something we also talked about recently.

I don’t think we can imagine the jobs on the other side of this, but even if you look today at what’s happening with programming, which I’ll pick because it’s sort of my background and near and dear to my heart.

What it means to be a programmer and an effective programmer in May of 2025 is very different than what it meant last time I was here in May of 2023.

These tools have really changed what a programmer is capable of [and] the amount of code and software that the world is going to get. And it’s not like people don’t hire software engineers anymore. They work in a different way and they’re way more [productive.]

Here’s My Take

I don’t agree with everything Sam Altman has ever said or done, but I do find him to be a reasonable voice about where we are with AI today, and where we’re headed in the future.

When Sen. John Fetterman asked Altman about the singularity — what I call ASI — here’s what he said:

I am incredibly excited about the rate of progress, but I also am cautious and I would say, I dunno, I feel small next to it or something.

I think this is beyond something that we all fully yet understand where it’s going to go…

I do think things are going to change quite substantially. I think humans have a wonderful ability to adapt and things that seem amazing will become the new normal very quickly.

We’ll figure [out] how to use these tools to just do things we could never do before and I think it will be quite extraordinary. But these are going to be tools that are capable of things that we can’t quite wrap our heads around…

It feels like a sort of new era of human history, and I think it’s tremendously exciting that we get to live through that and we can make it a wonderful thing, but we’ve got to approach it with humility and some caution.

I’m not sure I could have said it better.
