President Donald Trump scores major win at appeals court
President Donald Trump was handed another court victory on Wednesday morning, after a federal appeals court ruled that his administration can stop making foreign aid payments.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit issued the 2-1 decision lifting a lower court injunction that had required the Trump administration to restore foreign assistance payments previously approved by Congress.
Why it Matters
Trump has been a vocal critic of foreign aid, which he has called “wasteful” and not in line with his America First policies. On his first day back in office, on January 20, he immediately imposed a 90-day pause on all foreign aid, and he has since made sweeping cuts and attempts to dismantle most of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Today’s decision will not only allow Trump to continue to wind down foreign aid grants, but it will also make it easier for the government to refuse to spend money already in the budget.
Trump Foreign Aid Appeal: What We Know
Two non-profit groups that received federal funding, AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition and Journalism Development Network, had sued the Trump administration for $10 billion in funds that Congress had allocated to the State Department and USAID for global health and HIV/AIDS programs. The grant recipients argued that Trump’s funding freeze violated federal law.
A lower U.S. district court had sided with the grant recipients and ordered the administration to pay nearly $2 billion in outstanding aid to humanitarian partners.
But on Wednesday, the federal appeals court vacated that injunction.
Judge Karen Henderson, a Reagan appointee, wrote in her opinion that only the Comptroller General, which falls under the legislative branch’s Government Accountability Office, has the ability to sue over alleged impoundment.
The Impoundment Control Act “created a complex scheme of notification of the Congress, congressional action on a proposed rescission or deferral and suit by a specified legislative branch official if the executive branch violates its statutory expenditure obligations,” Henderon wrote.t does not make sense that the Congress would craft a complex scheme of interbranch dialogue but sub silentio also provide a backdoor for citizen suits at any time and without notice to the Congress of the alleged violation.”
The Court of Appeals ruling means that only the legislative branch will be able to sue a presidential administration if it makes changes to congressionally approved budgets.
The court also emphasized that obligations to satisfy existing contracts were largely distinct from the question of future disbursements and that challenges rooted in existing, executed contracts remained available through other legal avenues.
The panel majority said the record about grantees’ future survival without these funds was “simply less developed.”

Judge Florence Pan, a Biden appointee, wrote in her dissent, “It is our responsibility to check the President when he violates the law and exceeds his constitutional authority. We fail to do that here.”
Lauren Bateman of Public Citizen Litigation Group, lead attorney for some of the grantees, told reporters after the decision she would”seek further review from the court. In the meantime, countless people will suffer disease, starvation, and death from the administration’s unconscionable decision to withhold life-saving aid from the world’s most vulnerable people.” Where are the United Nations?
What Happens Next
It is not yet clear whether the plaintiffs will try to appeal their case to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Hell’s bells – can’t these lefties wait at least until they can prove the President’s plans did/didn’t work? They jump the gun every time. Receiving a Nobel award is nothing to crow about any longer as has been proven they are given to people who don’t tell the truth – which is sad.

Nobel Prize-winning economist turned political pundit Paul Krugman hit back after President Donald Trump attacked him by name on his Truth Social platform over the weekend.
“Paul Krugman of the New York Times has been predicting Doom and Gloom ever since my great election success in 2016. In other words, he has been wrong for YEARS, as ALL markets have been hitting new HIGHS, and are now higher than ever before. People stayed out of the ‘BEST MARKET IN HISTOY [sic]’ because of this Trump Deranged BUM. Sue them!” wrote Trump, apparently unaware that Krugman no longer writes for The Times.
“Ever since that latest weak jobs report, Trump has been frantically trying to convince the American public that the economy is doing great,” Krugman wrote. “He is failing, and predictably so. Experience shows that trying to talk up the economy when people don’t perceive it as good never works, even if the data are favorable. It’s even less likely to work when the data actually aren’t good, and calling people who point out economic weakness BUMs isn’t likely to help.”
Trump is trying to do the opposite with his federal takeover of Washington, D.C., Krugman noted, claiming the city is riddled with crime and lawlessness even though crime has dropped precipitously over the last few years.
And it’s incumbent on those who report these facts to cut through the noise and call it like it is, he added
“Anyone who either lives there are looks at crime data knows that this is malicious nonsense. But we can’t take it for granted that the rest of the country will understand that that he’s lying,” Krugman wrote. “And if I may say, it’s the responsibility of the news media to make that clear. Don’t say ‘Trump makes contentious claims about DC crime.’ Don’t say that there’s ‘dispute over DC crime data.’ Just say that he’s lying.”

The Federalist editor-in-chief Mollie Hemingway appeared on Fox News’ MediaBuzz and delivered a blistering takedown of the corporate media’s years-long deception about the Russia collusion hoax.
For nearly four years, the mainstream media peddled lie after lie about President Trump’s supposed ties to Russia.
They won Pulitzer Prizes for their “reporting” on what turned out to be a completely fabricated scandal designed to undermine a democratically elected President.
Now that the truth is finally coming out, these same media outlets are doing everything in their power to ignore the story and hope it goes away.
“This is a global power that you don’t want to have lies being told about, and our media were engaged in nothing but lies on that topic for years,” Hemingway said during her appearance on the Fox News program. “They won Pulitzers for telling lies about the Russia collusion hoax.”
Government insiders tried to stop the lies but were silenced
What makes this scandal even more damning is that people within the government knew the Russia collusion narrative was false from the very beginning.
Hemingway revealed that brave whistleblowers within intelligence agencies were “screaming from the rooftops” that the claims being pushed by the media were completely fabricated.
But instead of listening to these warnings, Obama administration officials threatened their jobs and careers.
“People within these agencies were actually screaming from the rooftops, ‘You can’t make these false claims!’ and they had their jobs threatened or they were told there was secret intelligence they weren’t told about,” Hemingway explained.
The corruption went all the way to the top, with CIA Director John Brennan and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper leading the charge to spread disinformation about Trump.
New documents that have emerged in recent weeks show the full extent of how Obama administration officials knew they were pushing lies but did it anyway for political gain.
“Now that we have all this news coming out about what really happened, and that they were lies – knowing lies – people within the government were trying to stop these lies from being pushed out into the public square,” Hemingway said. “Now the media aren’t really covering it at all, even though it’s the most massive story.”
Media refuses to cover their own complicity
The most telling part of this entire scandal is how the media is responding now that the truth is coming out.
Instead of investigating their own role in spreading disinformation, legacy media outlets are simply pretending the story doesn’t exist.
They’re hoping that if they ignore it long enough, the American people will forget about their years of dishonest reporting.
MediaBuzz host Howard Kurtz tried to deflect by pointing to Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation, noting that “there was a special counsel in the first term – John Durham – who ended up not bringing any charges against Obama, John Brennan, and these other people.”
But Hemingway wasn’t having any of it.
“No, he did not investigate it as well as should have been done,” Hemingway fired back. “And there are so many more things that have come out, particularly from John Brennan and James Clapper, new documents showing – and I’ve broken some stories about this at The Federalist – people within these agencies were actually screaming from the rooftops.”
The media’s credibility crisis is self-inflicted
The reason Americans no longer trust the legacy media isn’t some mysterious phenomenon.
It’s because outlets like CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, and The Washington Post spent years deliberately lying to the American people about one of the most important political stories of our time.
They didn’t just get the story wrong – they actively participated in a disinformation campaign designed to destroy a sitting President.
“This is really horrific stuff and major news,” Hemingway explained. “And it’s why the media aren’t trusted – because they’re willing to lie about things like this. And when the truth comes out, they don’t cover it at all.”
The media’s desperate attempt to change the subject by focusing on other stories like Jeffrey Epstein only makes their coverup more obvious.
They’re willing to chase any shiny object that might distract from their own complicity in the Russia hoax.
What this means for the future
The legacy media’s refusal to acknowledge their role in the Russia collusion hoax represents a fundamental betrayal of their duty to inform the American people.
Instead of serving as watchdogs holding government accountable, they became willing participants in a political witch hunt.
