‘We got him:’ Kirk shooting suspect in custody

Authorities in Utah are seeking this man in relation to Wednesday’s assassination of conservative activist Charlie KirkState of Utah with permission

(The Center Square) – Authorities on Friday confirmed the suspect in the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk is in custody.

The suspect was identified as Tyler Robinson, 22, of Utah.

“We got him,” Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said at a Friday news conference.

Cox said that on Thursday night, a family member of Robinson’s “reached out to a family friend,” saying Robinson had implicated himself in the shooting. The friend then contacted authorities, who took Robinson into custody.

Law enforcement interviewed a family member of the suspect, who said that Robinson had become “more political in recent years,” Cox said.

The unidentified family member shared a recent incident in which Robinson mentioned Kirk was coming to speak at the Utah Valley University campus, where Kirk was shot and killed.

Robinson said he didn’t like Kirk’s political viewpoints and thought he was “full of hate and spreading hate,” the family member told authorities, Cox said.

Investigators then interviewed Robinson’s roommate, who showed them various messages on Discord, a free communication platform, one of which referenced Robinson saying he needed to retrieve a rifle from a drop point. The messages also referenced engraving bullets.

Authorities found the bolt action rifle Thursday believed to be used in Wednesday’s assassination. Bullets were found inside the rifle, one of which was engraved with the message, “Hey fascist! Catch!” Cox said.

Earlier Friday, President Donald Trump told Fox News the suspect in the killing of  Kirk has been caught. Kirk was a close ally of Trump.

“I think with a high degree of certainty, we have him,” Trump told Fox & Friends. “Essentially, someone who knew him turned him in.”

As previously reported by The Center Square, the Utah Department of Public Safety released photos depicting the person of interest on Thursday.

Authorities had initially detained two individuals at different times following the shooting but released them after determining neither was involved.

Kirk, the Turning Point USA founder and ally of Trump, was shot in the neck while speaking at his “American Comeback Tour” on Utah Valley University’s campus Wednesday. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter, leaving behind his wife and two children under the age of 5.

School authorities traced the shots to the roof of the Losee Center, about 200 yards from the outdoor event.

The FBI, along with the Utah Department of Public Safety, is leading the investigation.

(The Center Square) – In the wake of the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, thousands of social media posts appear to list politically conservative targets for assassination by the political left.

Those on the list include podcaster Joe Rogan, Harry Potter author JK Rowling, conservative political commentators Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh, among others.Major Investors Are Buying This "Unlisted" Stock

In response to being targeted, Rowling, said, “If you believe free speech is for you but not your political opponents, you’re illiberal. If no contrary evidence could change your beliefs, you’re a fundamentalist. If you believe the state should punish those with contrary views, you’re a totalitarian. If you believe political opponents should be punished with violence or death, you’re a terrorist.”

Shapiro said, “We will never stop debating and discussing. We will never stop standing up for what America is and what she should be. And we will never let Charlie’s voice die.”

Walsh also said people were sending him screenshots of posted death threats, saying, “A lot of concerned people are sending me these screenshots (and dozens more). I appreciate their concern. But I’m not surprised and I won’t be going into hiding. We have to be louder and bolder now than ever. Or else the demons who killed Charlie win. And they cannot win.”Related video: Rep. A website has also been launched to “Expose Charlie’s Murderers.” It includes statements posted on social media by individuals who allegedly espouse violence as well as those celebrating Kirk’s assassination.

“We have received nearly 20,000 submissions,” the site says. “This website will soon be converted into a searchable database of all 20,000 submissions, filterable by general location and job industry. This is a permanent and continuously-updating archive of Radical activists calling for violence.”

The website has posted screenshots of the posts made, the alleged poster’s name, publicly available information about their employer, the company’s name, university or college and other publicly available information like the town and state where they live that the poster made public themselves.

One post states, “We need to find people with better aim,” implying more politically conservative individuals should be murdered. Others posts state, “God bless the Second Amendment right;” “Are guns an issue now?” with graphic depictions of Kirk’s murder; “White supremacist down,” among others. Many posts refer to Kirk and his followers as “Nazis.”Many Investors Will Miss This Stock. You Can Own It Now.

According to publicly available social media posts, those making the claims include U.S. military contractor employees; students and faculty from multiple colleges and universities, early childhood teachers and daycare workers, assisted living and senior living facilities employees, city fire department employees, attorneys, a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader; school board members, a U.S. Army career counselor, among thousands more.

Those making the posts appear to be from different economic and racial demographics and appear to identify as the political left. They openly claim to oppose Christianity and support LGBTQ, policies, according to the screenshots of the posts.

Separate from the website, screenshots of social media posts of individuals celebrating Kirk’s assassination are also being posted online. Clemson College Republicans highlighted two professor posts, including a since deleted post stating Kirk’s assassination was karma and another saying, “Nigga was worried about DEI and DIED instead.” CCR also posted the phone numbers of the president and deans calling for accountability. The university has yet to issue a statement.Artificial Intelligence Gives Traders Heads-Up on What's Coming Next

At Seattle Central College, the directive, “Kill All Charlie Kirks” was spray-painted on a college sign and an image of Kirk being killed was posted on a message board stating, “debate this.” Political commentator Sarah Stock said, “Not only are leftists gleefully celebrating Charlie’s murder, they are now using it to incite violence against conservative college students. This is political terrorism.”

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said at a news conference that authorities found shell casings with several inscriptions, including, “Hey fascist, Catch!” and “Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao,” referring to a song used by resistance fighters in Italy during World War II.

Cox has described Kirk’s murder as a political assassination and is working to ensure his killer receives the death penalty.

On Friday morning, he announced that Kirk’s alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, 22, of Utah, had been apprehended, The Center Square reported.

Online threats made about conservatives and public figures have been reported to law enforcement.

By contrast to the hatred spewed online, pastors are calling Americans to prayer, hoping Kirk’s death is a “catalyst to return America to a people of Godly values,” The Center Square reported.

KOMMONSENTSJANE – They Are at War With Us’: Jesse Watters Responds to Charlie Kirk’s Death.

09/11/2025

As a famous reporter once stated – the problem with our country is that dishonesty in the media leaves ordinary people defenseless and this is partly what is wrong with our world.

Another senseless killing – for what? Words from a man who loved his country.

Why can’t the reps from these two parties form a committee and sit down and talk about this killing in public for the world to see. The Democrats lost the election, the President is trying to put our country on the right track, and now we have to open this killing wound rather than return to our cocoons and hate complacency.

Who are THEY?

The Democrats have a split party – the Democrats/Socialists/Progressives/Hamas. Why do these uneducated people who do not know what freedom/justice which comes with following the Constitution mean. Why do they not want freedom and justice? I thought that is why they came to the U.S.A.? The real Democrats should recognize their party platform is being used for evil and need to stop funding the Socialists/Progressives/Hamas, who are using/turning their base toward evil.

Biden was influenced by Obama/his followers, who hate America. This all started with Bush I. It is time to part the weeds, The Bush family needs to heal America by telling us the truth to heal our country.. Who is going to be man enough to make that happen?

They know the whole story.

The truth has to come out..

Fox News host Jesse Watters called Charlie Kirk’s death a “turning point” during a broadcast aired shortly after confirmation of the conservative influencer’s passing.

“Trump gets hit in the ear, Charlie [Kirk] gets shot dead,” Watters said. He went on to add, “Think about it… it’s happening. You’ve got trans shooters, you’ve got riots in L.A. They are at war with us, whether we want to accept it or, they are at war with us. And what are we going to do about it? How much political violence are we going to tolerate? And that’s the question we are going to have to ask ourselves.”

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social account. Shortly after, the Associated Press confirmed news of his passing.

“Now, Charlie would want us to put as much pressure on these people as possible,” Watters said.A.I. Gives Traders "3-Day Warning," Could Transform Stock Portfolios

Kirk was the co-founder and CEO of Turning Point USA (TPUSA)—an organization that advocates for conservative politics on U.S. campuses. He was vocal about his views and advocated for Donald Trump in last year’s election.

“Everybody’s accountable and we’re watching what they’re saying on television and who’s saying what,” Watters said, naming “the politicians, the media, and all these rats out there.”

The conservative influencer’s death comes following other instances of political violence in the past months, including the May shooting of two Israeli embassy staffers, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, in Washington, D.C. and the assassination of a Minnesota Democratic State Representative, Melissa Hortman, at her home in June.

“This can never happen again, it ends now… this is a turning point and we know which direction we’re going,” Watters said.

According to FBI Director Kash Patel, a person of interest in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk is now in custody.

KOMMONSENTSJANE – Was this Case Part of the Lawfare Cases?

Appeals court upholds E. Jean Carroll’s $83.3M defamation judgment against Trump

By  JAKE OFFENHARTZUpdated 2:02 PM CDT, September 8, 2025Share

NEW YORK (AP) — A federal appeals court on Monday upheld a civil jury’s finding that President Donald Trump must pay $83.3 million to E. Jean Carroll for his repeated social media attacks and public statements against the longtime advice columnist after she accused him of sexual assault.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Trump’s appeal of the defamation award, calling the jury’s damages awards “fair and reasonable.”

A three-judge panel, citing hundreds of death threats Carroll faced, said the case record supported the trial judge’s “determination that ‘the degree of reprehensibility’ of Mr. Trump’s conduct was remarkably high, perhaps unprecedented.”

Trump had argued the damages were unreasonably excessive, particularly a $65 million punitive damage award, and pushed for a new trial after the Supreme Court expanded presidential immunity.

But the appeals court roundly rejected those arguments, writing that Trump’s “extraordinary and unprecedented” broadsides against Carroll, 81, justified the steep award, given “the unique and egregious facts of this case.”

Lawyers for Trump responded through a spokesperson to a request for comment by calling for “an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and a swift dismissal of all of the Witch Hunts, including the Democrat-funded travesty of the Carroll Hoaxes.” The case is likely headed to the Supreme Court.

In its ruling, the 2nd Circuit said there is “ample evidence” that Trump was recklessly indifferent to Carroll’s health and safety after “castigating Ms. Carroll as a politically and financially motivated liar” and “insinuating that she was too unattractive for him to have sexually assaulted” and would “pay dearly” for speaking out.

Carroll’s lawyer, Roberta Kaplan, welcomed the decision, saying in a statement that the appeals court affirmed that “Carroll was telling the truth, and that President Donald Trump was not.” Noting the threats to her client, Kaplan said they “look forward to an end to the appellate process.”

At trial, Carroll testified she feared for her safety after receiving hundreds of death threats and losing her decadeslong career at Elle magazine.

The ruling centered on the second — and far more expensive — of two defamation awards issued to Carroll over Trump’s yearslong attacks on her character, which began after she accused Trump in her 2019 memoir of sexually assaulting her decades earlier at a Manhattan department store.

In her memoir and again at a 2023 trial, Carroll described how a chance encounter with Trump at Bergdorf Goodman’s Fifth Avenue in 1996 started with the two flirting as they shopped, then ended with a violent struggle inside a dressing room.

Carroll said Trump slammed her against a wall, pulled down her tights and forced himself on her.

At the initial trial, a jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse, but concluded he hadn’t committed rape as defined under New York law.

Trump repeatedly denied the encounter took place and accused Carroll of making it up to help sell her book. He also said Carroll was “not my type.”

The 2023 jury awarded Carroll $5 million to compensate her for both the alleged attack and statements Trump made denying after his first presidency ended that it had happened.

After that first verdict, the court conducted a second trial with a new jury for the sole purpose of deciding damages for statements Trump made attacking Carroll’s character and truthfulness while he was president in 2019.

Trump skipped the first trial but attended the second, which took place during his 2024 presidential run. He portrayed the lawsuit as part of a broader effort to smear him and prevent him from regaining the White House.

His lawyers complained that the judge, in setting rules for the damages trial, had barred Trump and his defense team from claiming before the jury that he was innocent. The judge said that issue had been settled by the first jury and didn’t need to be revisited.

On Monday, the appeals court agreed, saying the trial judge “did not err in any of the challenged rulings and that the jury’s duly rendered damages awards were reasonable in light of the extraordinary and egregious facts of this case.”

The 2nd Circuit noted that Trump continued his attacks against Carroll for at least five years, making them “more extreme and frequent as the trial approached.”

“He also continued these same attacks during the trial itself,” the appeals court said. “In one such statement, issued two days into the trial, Trump proclaimed that he would continue to defame Carroll ‘a thousand times.”

Associated Press writers Darlene Superville in Washington, D.C., and Larry Neumeister in New York City contributed to this report.
