Republican Mike Johnson has successfully won his re election bid.
What is missing here?
It looks like the Republican Congressmen need a refreshment class on “how to work as a team member.”
With all of the showmanship which appears on the TV/internet after each vote – it is embarrassing to the people who voted for you to make an a$$ by going on national TV and embarrassing those who voted with you or against you.
The Republican reps who have been voted on by the people to “make a difference” to improve this country doesn’t help when you besmirch the others.
Mr. Speaker, please take time to have a meeting before this sessions starts as to how to respect each other as a group and IRON OUT YOUR DIFFERENCFS.
We don’t want to hear them on national TV – you are a grown up – so quit causing the theatrics – all of you.

A GOP lawmaker called Friday’s House Speaker vote — in which two Republicans were finally convinced to change their ballots but a third still held out — “the theater of the absurd.”
Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) posted his congratulations to Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) on X for keeping the speakership before Lawler appeared with CNN’s Jake Tapper.
“What was going on behind the scenes?” Tapper asked. “You had six people refusing to vote, then they voted for Johnson. Three people voting against him, then two of them flipping their votes. Did you talk to any of them?”

Tapper was referring to Reps. Ralph Norman (R-SC) and Keith Self (R-TX), as well as the lone hold-out, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who made his anti-Johnson position known in interviews before the vote.
Lawler answered, “Throughout the last few days? Certainly. But look, Jake, it’s the theater of the absurd. But I’m glad, obviously, that we were able to get this done in one round on one day and get Mike Johnson elected speaker so that we can actually get to work.”

Lawler continued, “There is so much to do on behalf of the American people, especially once President Trump is sworn in and we’ve got to hit the ground running. And, obviously, the certification of the presidential election is on Monday — we wouldn’t have been able to do that without a speaker. So, to get this wrapped up today, I think, was an important step. And we move forward and get about the business of the American people.”
House Republicans begin the new session of Congress with a very narrow margin — 219 to 215 to begin, with the assumption they’ll lose two more representatives shortly to Trump cabinet appointments. Rep. Michael Waltz (R-FL) has been tapped to fill a national security adviser position, and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) is Trump’s pick for ambassador to the United Nations.

No matter what first information was given – neither attack is justified. They both should be condemned. Just give us the facts and quit justifying your hate by implementing others to enhance your story.

After a terrorist rammed a truck into a crowd of people on New Orleans’ Bourbon Street, President-elect Donald Trump quickly used the attack to justify his immigration agenda. One former White House official is urging Americans to expect more of that rhetoric over the next four years.
(Maybe so – but it will be the truth – not this type of rhetoric from this person..)
In a Saturday essay for MSNBC, former White House press secretary Jen Psaki (who is now a host on the network) noted that after Trump’s false claim that the man behind the deadly attack that killed 14 people and injured dozens of others was an undocumented immigrant, his top allies repeated the lie on multiple occasions before it was eventually debunked. And even though Fox News fact-checked the president-elect’s claim, Psaki pointed out that incoming National Security Advisor Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) is “still exploiting this tragedy to push for confirmations of Trump’s national security picks — including himself — ‘on day one.'”
“Here’s the truth: The New Orleans attacker was a U.S. citizen, born in the United States, and an Army veteran,” Psaki wrote. “Yet Johnson and others continued to echo this claim on Fox well after the network corrected itself.”
(And, was he a Muslim and radicalized – ISIS FLAG IN HIS TRUCK?)
“This focus on the border is a distraction from the real questions that need to be asked,” she added. “What radicalized a U.S. citizen to commit such a horrific crime? Trump will be president in just 16 days, and this week highlights his dangerous habit of prioritizing political narratives over actual threats.”
42 year-old Army veteran Texas resident Shamsud din-Jabbar was behind the wheel of the truck when he carried out his attack, and investigators suspect he was motivated by the ideology of ISIS, whose flag was mounted on the back of the truck. While Fox News initially claimed the truck was seen crossing the Southern border with Mexico, police later revealed that the truck didn’t belong to the attacker, but was rented on the Turo app.
Also on New Years’ Day, Special Forces veteran Matthew Livelsberger detonated a Tesla Cybertruck outside of the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, injuring seven people. His uncle told the Independent that Livelsberger was a “Rambo type” who “loved Trump” and described the Green Beret and Bronze Star recipient as a “patriotic American.”

All of us know what side of the aisle the Democrats are playing – it is called “being difficult.”
Let them have their time and as soon as the President is sworn in – have a person there to notch up the flag to full staff as the Star Spangled Banner is played would be appropriate. Then, in respect to Carter, have a smaller flag below that flag for Carter at half mask.
The flag would reflect the “changing of the guard” and the new leader of the country who is bringing back FREEDOM/DEMOCRACY.
That would certainly be more impressive than fighting a ghost.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre answered two pointed questions about incoming President Donald Trump’s social media comments on Friday.
The first had to do with Trump’s assertion on TruthSocial that “The Democrats are all ‘giddy’ about our magnificent American Flag potentially being at ‘half mast’ during my inauguration. They think it’s so great and are so happy about it because, in actuality, they don’t love our country, they only think about themselves.
“In any event, because of the death of President Jimmy Carter, the Flag may, for the first time ever during an Inauguration of a future President, be at half mast. Nobody wants to see this, and no American can be happy about it. Let’s see how it plays out. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The first reporter asked, “President-elect Trump seemed to take issue today with the fact that flags will be flown at half mast at the time of his inauguration, considering the passing of former President Jimmy Carter… Is that a position that the White House would consider reversing or re-evaluating?”
Jean-Pierre answered simply and curtly, “No.”
Former President Carter, a Democrat, died Dec. 29 at the age of 100. President Biden ordered flags lowered to half staff in tribute for 30 days from Carter’s death, which encompasses Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20.
‘Simply False’: Karine Jean-Pierre Calls Out Trump For ‘False Claims’ During White House Briefing.
NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell asked about the “misinformation” Trump has been peddling on social media about Biden’s “open border policy” being responsible for the New Year’s Eve terrorist attack in New Orleans.
“President-elect Trump had communicated on his social media some inaccurate information relating to New Orleans this week,” O’Donnell said. “Is the president at all concerned about the flow of information, and briefing, and access to whatever intelligence or whatever he might need in terms of this transition. Is he comfortable with the information flow to the president-elect?” O’Donnell asked.
Jean-Pierre began her answer by giving props to the media.
“I’m actually glad you asked this question because one of the things that you all do as a journalists’ body is that you were able to fact check and say that what was stated by the president-elect was simply false. And, I think that is important, right? Which is why we respect the hard work that all of you do.
“As it relates to the president and the information that he gets, obviously that’s something that’s for ODNI if it’s related to intelligence and specific information and that nature. I’m not going to speculate beyond that, and I’m just going to leave it there.”
