KOMMONSENTSJANE – Oregon DMV Registers Voters Without Verifying Citizenship.

11/25/2024

Each state is responsible for their voter list and the DMV is not responsible. My suggestion is that the DMV should give them the law/crime info – if they vote and are not a citizen

Oregon DMV Registers Voters Without Verifying Citizenship

Posted on  by David Gregoire

The Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is under fire for its voter registration practices, which have reportedly allowed individuals of “unknown citizenship” status to register to vote. According to Republican state Rep. Ed Diehl, DMV employees are instructed to process voter registrations for individuals who self-attest to being U.S. citizens, even if their documentation doesn’t confirm citizenship.

This revelation comes after Democratic Governor Tina Kotek temporarily paused Oregon’s “motor voter” program amid an investigation into more than 1,500 potential noncitizens being improperly registered to vote. The controversy highlights a larger debate over voter registration protocols and the integrity of election systems.

Under the DMV’s current process, individuals presenting identification that neither proves nor disproves citizenship—such as foreign passports or immigration documents—are still offered the chance to register to vote. The applicant need only certify their eligibility, a step critics argue is insufficient to prevent voter fraud.

Rep. Diehl, who met with DMV officials in October, revealed that voter registration now relies exclusively on attestation. “Instead of being optional — a side track basically for voter registration — it’s right now the only way,” Diehl said.

Previously, the motor voter program, which automatically registered individuals to vote based on certain DMV transactions, theoretically required some level of documentary proof of citizenship. However, documents obtained by The Federalist show that the DMV has registered over 54,600 individuals of “unknown citizenship status” between June 2021 and October 2024 under the current system.

Gov. Kotek’s decision to pause the motor voter program followed initial reports of noncitizens being registered. However, the pause does not appear to have resolved concerns. The DMV’s alternative process still relies on self-certification of citizenship, sparking criticism from lawmakers like Diehl, who argue that it opens the door to abuse.

“If, during a transaction with DMV, a person presents an identity document that does not prove they are a U.S. citizen, but also does not indicate they are not a U.S. citizen, we offer the person the opportunity to register to vote,” Glenn explained. “That requires the person certify they are a U.S. citizen.”

Kevin Glenn, the communications director for the Oregon Department of Transportation, defended the DMV’s approach, stating it complies with the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, which mandates that motor vehicle agencies offer voter registration services.

The Oregon voter registration form asks applicants to provide the last four digits of their Social Security number, a driver’s license number, or other acceptable identification, such as a utility bill or paycheck stub. However, none of these documents definitively prove citizenship, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the system.

Applicants must also check a box affirming that they are U.S. citizens. If they lie, they commit perjury, which is punishable by up to five years in prison and fines totaling $135,000. However, enforcement mechanisms for such cases remain unclear. Critics argue that the lack of proactive verification undermines the deterrence value of these penalties.

Internal DMV documents obtained by The Federalist confirm the agency’s practices. A document dated October 25, titled “Proof of Citizenship Accepted By DMV,” explicitly states that the agency offers “opt-in voter registration” to individuals with “unknown citizenship status.”

The document outlines that while individuals who present proof of non-citizenship are not offered voter registration, those who fall into the ambiguous category of “unknown citizenship” are still provided the opportunity to register, provided they self-certify their eligibility.

Critics like Diehl argue that these practices erode public confidence in election integrity. “Unless they demonstrate that they’re not a citizen, yeah, they’ll offer them to vote,” Diehl said, emphasizing the need for stricter safeguards.

Supporters of the DMV’s approach, however, point out that the agency is merely complying with federal law, which prioritizes making voter registration accessible. They argue that accusations of widespread fraud are largely unsubstantiated and that self-attestation strikes a balance between accessibility and accountability.

The controversy has broader implications for national debates over voter registration and election security. Opponents of Oregon’s practices see them as symptomatic of a larger issue: the potential for noncitizens to inadvertently or intentionally participate in elections.

As the external audit of Oregon’s motor voter program continues, the spotlight will remain on the state’s voter registration practices. Gov. Kotek and the DMV are likely to face increased scrutiny from both lawmakers and the public, with calls for reforms that prioritize both accessibility and security.

For now, the issue underscores a larger tension in American democracy: balancing the need for inclusive voter participation with the imperative to protect the integrity of elections. Whether Oregon’s current approach can achieve that balance remains to be seen.

The states seems to want this cushion of extra cheating votes instead of having several layers of checks and balances. It is important to tell the new citizen that it is a crime to vote if you are not a citizens.

KOMMONSENTSJANE – AOC: Bathroom Bill Endangers Women – Not Protects Them!

11/24/2024

AOC is tending or serving to disparage or undervalue herself as a woman and ends up self-deprecating herself and is a part of the “consolation club.”

NewsPolitics

 By Eric Thompson

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has publicly condemned House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) for their support of legislation aimed at banning biological males identifying as transgender from using women’s bathrooms. The contentious debate over gender identity and public restroom access has once again ignited fierce divisions in Congress, with Ocasio-Cortez characterizing the measure as harmful and exploitative.

“It’s disgusting,” said Ocasio-Cortez during a recent press briefing. “And everybody, no matter how you feel on this issue, should reject it completely. They’re doing this so that Nancy Mace can make a buck and send a text and fundraise off an email. They’re not doing this to protect people.”

Her most striking assertion, however, came when she argued that such legislation is “endangering women” and “girls of all kinds.” This statement, while intended to rally opposition to the bill, has drawn skepticism from conservative circles, which have long championed similar measures as critical to preserving the safety and privacy of women in vulnerable spaces.

The Conservative Response

The bill reflects a long-standing commitment to safeguarding the rights and privacy of biological women. Many argue that allowing biological males access to women’s restrooms undermines these principles and exposes women to potential risks. Critics of Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks contend that her claims are both inflammatory and unfounded, designed to appeal to progressive factions rather than address legitimate safety concerns.

The notion that excluding men identifying as transgender from women’s bathrooms “endangers women” has been met with particular disdain. For conservatives, such rhetoric appears to ignore real-world incidents where abuses have occurred under the guise of gender identity. They point to cases of voyeurism and harassment in public restrooms as evidence supporting the necessity of policies that prioritize biological distinctions.

The Broader Context

The debate over public restroom policies has emerged as a flashpoint in the larger cultural battle over gender identity. Republican lawmakers advocating for the bill emphasize that their aim is not discrimination but the protection of biological women and children in spaces where privacy is paramount.

Ocasio-Cortez’s criticism, however, extends beyond policy to accusations of political opportunism. Her assertion that the measure is a fundraising tool for Republican lawmakers reflects the deep mistrust between the two parties on matters of gender and civil rights. Yet, her framing of the issue as an existential threat to women and girls has drawn attention for its lack of supporting evidence.

A Clash of Ideals

The controversy highlights a fundamental clash of ideals: whether gender identity or biological sex should determine access to gender-segregated spaces. Conservatives argue that prioritizing gender identity over biological realities creates a slippery slope that compromises safety and erodes the hard-won rights of women.

For many on the right, the criticism from Ocasio-Cortez epitomizes the excesses of progressive ideology, which they view as disconnected from the lived experiences of ordinary Americans. Her remarks, while impassioned, have been interpreted as dismissive of legitimate concerns about privacy and safety in spaces traditionally reserved for women.

Implications for the Culture War

As the debate over bathroom policies intensifies, it underscores the broader cultural and political divide over issues of gender and identity. For conservatives, the bill represents a necessary reaffirmation of biological distinctions in law and policy, a bulwark against what they see as the overreach of progressive activism.

Ocasio-Cortez’s denunciation of the bill may galvanize her base, but it also risks alienating moderates who view the legislation as a common-sense measure. For those committed to protecting women’s spaces, her remarks are likely to be seen not as a defense of women but as an affront to their dignity and safety.

As the discourse evolves, the question remains: Can lawmakers find common ground on such a polarizing issue, or will the cultural divide continue to deepen? For now, the bathroom debate is a microcosm of the broader battles shaping America’s political landscape.

This is America and we respect all women and men and give them the privacy which is needed when taking care of private moments.

Build a non-gender bathroom in that given area. Plain and simple.

KOMMONSENTSJANE – Democrats Don’t Understand What It Means To Be Educated.

Trump urged to ‘put parents back in the driver’s seat’ by abolishing Department of Educatio

Sonny Hostin may have unveiled the real reason why the Democrats lost the election, but she had it all wrong. She recently said on “The View,” that “What we did not have is white women, who voted about 52% for Donald Trump – uneducated white women is my understanding.”

One of the realities of why the Democrats lost this election in the landslide is thinking they have a monopoly on defining what being “educated” means in America today and here’s the reality of what this word means in America today.  Let’s examine this. This #1 Selling Hose In America Is Not What You Think (See For Yourself)

The Latin root of the word educate is “ex-ducere”: to lead out of. The idea is that the educational process leads you out of your former self into a new self: more knowledgeable, more skilled, wiser, and more experienced. Nowhere in this definition does it say that if you get a diploma, especially a college diploma, that you are more educated. But the democrats have increasingly defined the notion of being educated in America to be inextricably linked with getting a four-year college education. Mind you, that America has plenty of educated derelicts and plenty of kids who graduate college without a clue what they want to do and end up being a Starbucks’ barista while they figure it out.

I’M A BLACK PH.D. AND HERE’S WHY I LEFT ACADEMIA

What does being educated really mean? There are four buckets.

Formal Education

Reading, writing and arithmetic, some would say. Getting a formal education involves following a curriculum designed to impart knowledge, develop skills and instill values across various disciplines. Formal education equips individuals with foundational academic and professional competencies and some would argue college is more important to learn how to ‘adult’ on your own than the actual courses themselves. Formal education serves as a pathway for personal growth and career opportunities for many.

So Elon Musk backing president-elect Trump’s vow to gut the education department.

Street Smarts

Street smarts are about practical intelligence and survival skills honed through real-world experience. This form of smarts involves quick thinking, resourcefulness and the ability to navigate challenging or unfamiliar environments. Street-smart individuals excel in making snap judgments, solving problems on the go and handling difficult situations. They may lack academic credentials but often have strong instincts and the ability to read people and situations accurately. Street smarts are particularly useful in unpredictable, high-pressure scenarios.A new $59 smartwatch that monitors blood sugar painlessly in just a few seconds

There are many entrepreneurs in America who never graduated college and many who didn’t graduate high school, yet they have built multi-million dollar businesses, creating jobs, giving back to their communities and helping the tax base. Their education in some ways may be much more pragmatic some would argue vs. getting a college diploma.

Social intelligence

Social smarts focus on interpersonal skills and understanding human behavior. People with social smarts excel in communication, empathy and building relationships. They are adept at reading social cues, resolving conflicts and fostering teamwork. Social smarts are essential in roles requiring collaboration, leadership and influence. Unlike book or street smarts, social intelligence bridges cognitive and emotional domains, making it crucial in both professional and personal settings.

Adversity Quotient

This is fourth area of education many people never talk about in America. It’s in part why Donald Trump won the election, because he excels in overcoming adversity. Adversity Quotient (AQ) refers to an individual’s ability to face, endure and overcome challenges or difficult situations. It measures how well someone responds to adversity, including their resilience, adaptability and capacity to persevere in tough circumstances. This type of education is a learned skill and one that we would often define with the term ‘develops character.’

All of this makes you wonder, has the Democratic Party become one that is largely and disproportionately steered by liberal college-educated people? And what’s the consequence we saw in this election with this demographic shift?

The liberal and progressive college-educated dominance over the Democratic Party agenda alienated at least some socially conservative working-class nonwhites, thereby driving a small but electorally consequential subset of them into the arms of Republican Party candidates and into the arms of winning this election. Buyer beware, being educated in America isn’t defined by a diploma.

KOMMONSENTSJANE – Janet Yellen departs from office — as she leaves a trail of mess behind her.

11/23/2024

ttps://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/janet-yellen-departs-from-office-as-she-leaves-a-trail-of-mess-behind-her/ar-AA1uDfPD?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=f45cd18a49e84afa9f0f01ea2e8db35c&ei=6

The whiplash-inducing, “Hunger Games”-style race to become Donald Trump’s Treasury secretary made it easy for the media to ignore what has been going on with Janet Yellen — and the absolute mess she’s leaving for her successor.

Yellen — who, it was revealed Friday, will be replaced as Treasury secretary in January by hedge fund mogul Scott Bessent — was Joe Biden’s pick to run the office that is essentially the country’s CFO.

Indeed, it could be the most important cabinet position in the White House given the importance of the US economy. Americans put Trump in office largely over his handling of the economy during his first term — job growth and wages that kept place with a low inflation rate.

Despite her gold-plated résumé, Ivy League degrees, and time served as Fed chair, Yellen gave the country just the opposite. Her boss paid the price politically as the American people paid the price economically.

And according to my sources, the American people aren’t done paying the price for Yellen’s mismanagement even if most of the financial media is overlooking the fiscal time bomb she devised — one that could blow up once Trump takes office.

Biden’s cowardly Cabinet is a national disgrace, shirking its duty to remove him.

Specifically, my sources who follow the bond market say Yellen has been setting a trap for the incoming Trump administration through the way she financed the massive $1.8 trillion federal budget deficit that exploded during the Biden years with the accumulation of $36 trillion in debt.

Yellen has been moving away from long-term debt to finance the shortfalls to shorter-dated securities, essentially rolling over deficits with more and more Treasury bills instead of the normal way of debt issuance through 10- and 30-year debt.

That’s according to an analysis by Robbert van Batenburg of the influential Bear Traps Report, who estimates that around 30% of all debt is the short-term variety — aka 2-year and shorter notes — compared to 15% in 2023.

Didn’t lock in low rates.

In an era of low interest rates, Yellen & Co. could have locked in relatively cheap interest payments for years by issuing more 10- and 30-year debt.

So why go there? Politics, according to Yellen’s Wall Street critics.

Because the Biden administration has taken spending to new and some say unsustainable levels, Yellen needed to engage in a bit of financial chicanery to keep interest rates low and not spook the stock market during an election year, her critics say.A new $59 smartwatch that monitors blood sugar painlessly in just a few seconds

If she had financed deficits with 10- and 30-year bonds, that would have caused a rise in interest rates that impact consumers, i.e. mortgages and credit cards.Follow the latest on President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet selections:

Yields on the 10-year bond have remained under 5%, a key level that has coincided with a run-up in stocks. If rates move to 5% and above, it would also probably cause a decline in the stock market because stocks would be competing with higher-yielding super-safe treasuries for investors’ money.

She was playing with additional fire because rates on short-dated debt, while low, began to spike in recent years when the Fed raised its base rate to fight inflation.

As van Batenburg puts it: “The Treasury now faces a substantial volume of short-term debt maturing annually, which must be refinanced at significantly higher interest rates. Current market rates for short-term debt, while slightly lower than recent peaks, remain elevated compared to historical levels. This mismatch between low-cost historical debt and high-cost replacement debt is driving a substantial increase in the government’s interest expense.”See Also

Scary stuff. Average Americans got screwed by inflation and then higher rates that made homeownership less affordable. Rich people luxuriated in gains from higher financial-asset prices. But yields on the 10-year have been inching up to that danger zone of 5%.

Janet Yellen departs from office — as she leaves a trail of mess behind herGOP panel demands Treasury records on ‘potentially fraudulent’ donations through Democratic fundraising platform

It could set the stage for a stock market collapse or even worse if the bond market starts to factor in not just higher deficits given Biden’s spending spree, but also the need to issue more long-dated debt because short-term borrowing is more expensive.

Thanks, Janet.

Gensler’s SEC land mines

Speaking of cleaning up messes, SEC Chairman Gary Gensler announced last week he doesn’t plan to stick around until his term ends in 2026.

His replacement is still in question as this column goes to press, though sources say long-time securities lawyer and ex-SEC commissioner Paul Atkins has the inside track.

While Wall Street’s top cop won’t face the same existential worries being faced by the new Treasury secretary, it won’t be a cakewalk, either.

“Cleaning up after Gensler is like avoiding land mines left behind by the retreating Japanese soldiers,” an SEC insider told me.

Gensler, during his three-plus years as Biden’s SEC chair, basically defied the agency’s congressional mandate. He turned what’s essentially an investor-protection agency into a climate-activist arm of the Biden administration by trying to impose costly and absurd disclosures on public companies about their carbon footprint, nearly impossible to accurately gauge.

His enforcement arm became a de facto regulator of the $3.5 trillion crypto business; instead of setting clear rules for the industry, he brought cases, stifling innovation of all-important blockchain technology in the US and pushing it overseas. Staff morale is at an all-time low due to Gensler’s brusque management style.

I can go on, but I don’t want to scare whoever’s taking Gary’s place.
