DOGE Dividends Won’t Be Inflationary

President Donald Trump is considering returning 20 percent of the savings identified by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) directly to taxpayers while using another 20 percent to pay down government debt.“There’s even a — under consideration, a new concept where we give 20 percent of the DOGE savings to American citizens and 20 percent goes to paying down debt,” Trump said earlier this week. Some analysts argue that these “DOGE Dividends” could contribute to inflation.

However, the economic impact of this policy differs significantly from the Biden-era stimulus measures that drove inflation to four decade highs.Elon Musk holds a chainsaw reading “Long live freedom, damn it” during the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Oxon Hill, Maryland, on February 20, 2025. (SAUL LOEB/AFP via Getty Images)The Biden administration’s stimulus checks fueled inflation because they were financed through deficit spending and an expansion of the money supply.

The government borrowed trillions to send out checks, while the Federal Reserve increased its balance sheet by purchasing Treasury bonds and slashed interest rates. Essentially, the Fed monetized the cost of the Biden stimulus. In contrast, the DOGE refunds are funded by cuts to excessive and inefficient government spending. Instead of injecting new money into the economy, this policy reallocates existing funds that were previously spent on government programs.Steve Chiavarone of Federated Hermes underscored this on Bloomberg TV Friday, explaining why DOGE dividends won’t be inflationary.”They can’t be inflationary in the short-run because I’ve already pre-cut that money. I’m just shifting it from one part of the economy to the other,” Chiavarone said.Reducing Government Payrolls Is DisinflationaryCutting the number of government employees and private sector employees receiving government funding is also disinflationary. Government employees, particularly those in stable bureaucratic positions with generous pensions, generally have a high propensity to spend. If some of these salaries are redirected into one-time payments to taxpayers, a greater share of funds will be saved rather than spent, which would further dampen inflationary pressures.Another factor is the plan’s allocation of 20 percent of the savings toward reducing the national debt. Paying down government debt reduces the need for new borrowing.

Lower debt issuance can lead to reduced longer-term interest rates, making capital more accessible for private sector investment. A lower debt burden also reduces the risk of inflationary pressures associated with excessive government spending. The economic environment today is also different from the conditions during the early years of the Biden administration. At that time, pandemic-related supply-chain disruptions and labor shortages constrained production. The Biden administration’s war on fossil fuels hindered energy production, and its massive increase in regulations retarded investment. So, when stimulus checks increased household demand, this imbalance contributed to higher prices. The current economy, however, does not face the same supply constraints. Factories are operational, supply chains have stabilized, and the labor force has recovered. Trump is taking measures to free the economy from the shackles of Bidenomics: pushing for more energy production, making tax cuts permanent, and rolling back regulation. As a result, DOGE refunds will not have the same inflationary impact as past stimulus payments.Consumer behavior also plays a role in determining inflationary effects. COVID-era stimulus checks were designed to boost consumer spending, particularly among lower-income households and workers who had been displaced by the pandemic.

The DOGE refunds, by contrast, would arrive at a time of historically low unemployment, making concentrated demand surges less likely. Additionally, one-time payments are less likely to be spent immediately compared to continuous income, meaning a portion may be saved or used to pay down personal debt, reducing the inflationary impact.Another consideration is the broader impact of reducing inefficient government spending. Inefficiency in government expenditures often leads to higher costs as excessive spending competes for limited resources. Cutting wasteful programs can reduce excess demand in certain sectors, easing inflationary pressures rather than exacerbating them. And as Chiavarone said on Bloomberg, the private sector is likely to use the money in a much more productive way than the government. Finally, sending out the DOGE dividends or efficiency refunds could bolster public support for budget cuts, allowing the Trump administration to make even deeper cuts. That reduced spending would also tend to reduce inflationary pressures.Far from fueling inflation, Trump’s plan reins in wasteful spending, reduces debt, and returns money to taxpayers without expanding the deficit. That’s a win for fiscal sanity and the taxpayer.

That sounds good – and – I know a lot of people could put it to good use; but, what about the debt – trillions – is there anyway we could use this money to bring down the debt?

James Fishback, CEO of InvestAzoria, has set the political world on fire with his bold proposal for a “DOGE Dividend”—a concept that could see American taxpayers receiving tax refund checks funded exclusively by the savings generated through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

In a statement that’s already drawing attention from lawmakers and financial analysts alike, Fishback outlined how the DOGE Dividend would work: a portion of the billions in taxpayer savings brought in by DOGE’s aggressive efforts to root out waste and corruption within the federal government would be used to issue a tax refund check to every American taxpayer.

Sponsored

Fishback estimates that this could amount to as much as $5,000 per household—a significant windfall for families already burdened by high taxes and government inefficiency. In an era of skyrocketing national debt and inflation, the idea of turning government savings into direct benefits for taxpayers strikes a chord with many conservatives looking to see more accountability in Washington.

The DOGE initiative, which is being championed by Elon Musk and overseen by the Trump administration, has already started delivering substantial savings by cutting wasteful spending, eliminating unnecessary contracts, and reducing the size of bloated federal agencies. Musk, known for his advocacy of efficiency and his ability to shake up entrenched bureaucracies, has promised to continue driving reforms, and Fishback’s idea would take these efforts a step further by directly returning some of the savings to the taxpayers.

Musk himself confirmed the seriousness of the proposal, stating that he “will check with the President” about the possibility of implementing the DOGE Dividend. This suggests that the concept could gain traction within the Trump administration, which has made cutting government waste and reducing the deficit central to its agenda.

In addition to the dividend proposal, Fishback also released a document titled “The Case for a DOGE Dividend,” where he argues that this move would not only provide financial relief to American families but also serve as a powerful incentive for further fiscal responsibility in Washington. By making government efficiency directly benefit taxpayers, Fishback believes it could create a long-term cycle of accountability and savings that would fundamentally change how Washington operates.

If Fishback’s vision for the DOGE Dividend gains momentum, it could mark a significant shift in how government spending is viewed—no longer just an abstract issue, but something that directly impacts Americans in a tangible way. And with Musk’s backing, it’s a proposal that may not be so easily dismissed.

I would rather pay the debt to save our country and our savings.

KOMMONSENTSJANE – We don’t have a lack of prosperity problem. We have an entitlement and an ungratefulness problem.

02/20/2025

 WE HAVE A PROBLEM:

This is a well written and thought out article written by a 26-year-old college student by the name of Alyssa Ahlgren, who’s in grad school for her MBA.

What a GREAT perspective…

My Generation Is Blind to the Prosperity Around Us!

I’m sitting in a small coffee shop near Nokomis (Florida) trying to think of what to write about. I scroll through my newsfeed on my phone looking at the latest headlines of presidential candidates calling for policies to “fix” the so-called injustices of capitalism.

I put my phone down and continue to look around.

I see people talking freely, working on their MacBook’s, ordering food they get in an instant, seeing cars go by outside, and it dawned on me. We live in the most privileged time in the most prosperous nation and we’ve become completely blind to it. Vehicles, food, technology, freedom to associate with whom we choose. These things are so ingrained in our American way of life we don’t give them a second thought.

We are so well off here in the United States that our poverty line begins 31 times above the global average. Thirty One Times!!!

Virtually no one in the United States is considered poor by global standards. Yet, in a time where we can order a product off Amazon with one click and have it at our doorstep the next day, we are unappreciative, unsatisfied, and ungrateful. ??

Our unappreciation is evident as the popularity of socialist policies among my generation continues to grow. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently said to Newsweek talking about the millennial generation, “An entire generation, which is now becoming one of the largest electorates in America, came of age and never saw American prosperity.

“Never saw American prosperity!

Let that sink in.

When I first read that statement, I thought to myself, that was quite literally the most entitled and factually illiterate thing I’ve ever heard in my 26 years on this earth. Many young people agree with her, which is entirely misguided.

My generation is being indoctrinated by a mainstream narrative to actually believe we have never seen prosperity. I know this first hand, I went to college, let’s just say I didn’t have the popular opinion, but I digress. Why then, with all of the overwhelming evidence around us, evidence that I can even see sitting at a coffee shop, do we not view this as prosperity?

We have people who are dying to get into our country. People around the world destitute and truly impoverished. Yet, we have a young generation convinced they’ve never seen prosperity, and as a result, we elect some politicians who are dead set on taking steps towards abolishing capitalism.

Why?

The answer is this,?? my generation has only seen prosperity. We have no contrast. We didn’t live in the great depression, or live through two world wars, the Korean War, The Vietnam War or we didn’t see the rise and fall of socialism and communism.

We don’t know what it’s like to live without the internet, without cars, without smartphones.

We don’t have a lack of prosperity problem. We have an entitlement problem, an ungratefulness problem, and it’s spreading like a plague.”

****

In my community only 22% of the people voted for the Democrat and the rest voted for President Trump.

What is it that the 22% missed reading and understanding – that our country has been blessed with prosperity and the corrupt Biden/Obama administration misused it.? Now with our new President Trump/Musk – we need to work with them in order to stop the corruption and the misunderstanding of our Constitution which the 22% voted against..

We must vote out people like AOC who drank the Obama/Biden kool-aide.

Here’s to hoping that the 22%, plus the rest of the country in this category, wake up and help put our country back and restore what our fore fathers built for us to use/improve and pass on to future generations – not abuse it like Obama/Biden Democrats did.

We cannot allow ignorance to win.

Democrats around the country are still licking their wounds after last month’s stinging election defeat — but the party might be sailing toward an even bigger iceberg.

New research from progressive polling outfit Navigator Research shows the party’s reputation is in tatters even among previous backers, who have come to view the Dems as weak, obsessed with “woke” initiatives such DEI and overly accommodating to the elites at the expense of the middle class.

They’re “not a friend of the working class anymore,” a respondent wrote.

Navigator at one point asked participants to compare the Democratic Party to an animal.

One likened them to an ostrich because “they’ve got their heads in the sand and are absolutely committed to their own ideas, even when they’re failing,” said Politico, which first published details of the research.

Another person answered koalas, owing to the fact that the marsupials are “complacent and lazy about getting policy wins we really need.”

Rachel Russell, Navigator Research’s director of polling and analytics, said the findings represent “a pretty scathing rebuke” of the Democratic Party.

“This weakness they see, [Democrats] not getting things done, not being able to actually fight for people — is something that needs to be figured out,” Russell said.

“It might not be the message, it might be the policy. It might be something a little bit deeper that has to be addressed by the party.”

More Harris supporters looking sad.

The research was conducted just after the 2024 election and included three distinct focus groups: young men in battleground states who voted Trump in 2020 but Biden this year; battleground state voters who backed Biden in 2020 but abstained from voting in 2024, and blue-state voters who previously backed Democrats — or third-party candidates — but supported Trump in November 2024.

“The elites that run the Democratic Party — I think they’re way too obsessed with appealing to these very far-left social progressivism that’s very popular on college campuses,” said a Georgia man, who backed Biden in the last election but went for Trump in 2024, to the outlet.

The poll’s participants also didn’t hold back with their criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris — who was abruptly named the party’s standard-bearer for 2024 after elderly President Biden was pushed to step aside by fellow Democrats.

“It seemed like a lot of what she came out and said wasn’t really off-the-cuff, wasn’t coming from her,” said a man who switched his support from Biden in 2020 to Trump in 2024.

“Seemed like every interview, every time she came out and talked about something, it was planned out and never her thoughts, didn’t seem genuine to her thoughts,” he said, drawing a contrast with Trump’s famously improvisational style.

“Trump, even though you never really knew what he was going to say, when he was going to say it, it was always him and genuine to what he thought, so that’s what swayed me.”

A Wisconsin woman who said she didn’t vote at all in 2024 told the researchers that the Democrats’ embrace of fringe social issues were a turn-off to her.119

What do you think? Post a comment.

“I think that there needs to be some parameters on what’s accepted in society and what isn’t,” she said. “Some of the societal norms, and I think that the Democrats have tried to open that up a little too much.”

The moderator asked whether she was referring to issues around transgender Americans, to which she conceded, “primarily that.”

Since Harris’ resounding defeat at the polls, the idea of her running for governor of California has been floated in recent days, much to the consternation of many liberals.

KOMMONSENTSJANE – Something to Consider! A Gross National Happiness (GNH) Poll.

02/19/2025

Due to the unhappiness of the Democratic Party and the loss in the 2024 election, it might be a good time to include a GROSS NATIONAL HAPPINESS (GNH) poll to gauge the people and find out if they are improving as the country moves forward.

We do have a country that does measure happiness.

Bhutan is the only country in the world to officially measure national happiness. The index is known as GNH (Gross National Happiness). Rather than placing emphasis on GDP, Bhutan attempts to track the satisfaction of its population. The United Nations bought into the idea in 2011 and released the World Happiness Report in 2012.

The annual report uses Gallup data and ranks countries by factors such as social, health, and environmental wellness rather than just economic concerns.

Despite a focus on internal happiness, the Bhutanese government has been accused of numerous human rights violations against the ethnic minorities living there; many were forced out of the country or into refugee camps. The United States accepted 30,870 Bhutanese refugees between 2008 and 2010.

Where Is Bhutan?

Surrounded by the Himalayas, Bhutan is a small country sandwiched between India and Tibet, east of Nepal and north of Bangladesh.

Bhutan is considered to be part of South Asia and a destination of many travelers.

****

It is a good way to allow the folks to express their opinion whether or not they are happy with the government’s policies and also be a gauge to measure the temperature of the population.
