Would the Governor of Chicago, Illinois, explain to the people why he doesn’t want to work with the President since the state itself hasn’t been able to make a difference. Just think, Mr. Governor, the difference this would make in your city and how many lives this would save. Just play like the President was a Democrat during that time (speaking for myself), make it happen, you can take the credit, and what a difference this would make. No one will hold it against you.

Trump Used Two Words About Chicago Crime That Left Democrats Scrambling
Chicago just had another blood-soaked weekend that should shame every politician in Illinois.
But instead of begging for help, Democrat leaders are doubling down on their disastrous approach to crime.
And Trump used two words about Chicago crime that left Democrats scrambling to defend the indefensible.
Trump calls out the “incompetent” leadership destroying Chicago
President Trump didn’t mince words when he saw the carnage from Chicago’s latest weekend of violence.
Six people dead and 27 wounded in what officials laughably call “crime sprees” across the city.
Trump fired off a Truth Social post that cut straight to the heart of the problem plaguing the Windy City.
“A really DEADLY weekend in Chicago. 6 DEAD, 27 HURT IN CRIME SPREES ALLOVER THE CITY. Panic stricken Governor Pritzker says that crime is under control, when in fact it is just the opposite. He is an incompetent Governor who should call me for HELP. Mayor Johnson is no better. Make Chicago Great Again!” Trump wrote late Tuesday night.¹
The two words that have Democrats in Illinois losing their minds? “Incompetent Governor.”
Trump hit the nail on the head about J.B. Pritzker, who’s been running Illinois into the ground while pretending everything’s fine.
But here’s what really has these politicians panicked – Trump offered to help fix their mess.
Instead of jumping at the chance to save lives, Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson are more worried about their political reputations than dead bodies piling up in their streets.
Pritzker actually had the nerve to call Trump’s offer of federal assistance “exactly the type of overreach that our country’s founders warned against.”²
Really? The founders were worried about stopping murder sprees?
The numbers tell the real story about Chicago’s crime disaster
Let’s talk about what “under control” actually looks like in Pritzker’s Chicago.3
The Chicago police department’s own numbers paint a horrific picture: nine people murdered in seven days, along with 27 sexual assaults, 128 robberies, 114 aggravated batteries, 117 burglaries, 297 stolen cars, and nearly 1,000 theft cases.³
Those aren’t statistics – they’re families destroyed, businesses shuttered, and neighborhoods turned into war zones.
For 13 years running, Chicago has earned the grim title of America’s murder capital, racking up 573 killings in 2024 alone.⁴
Chicago’s illegal gun problem is so bad that cops there seize more firearms than their counterparts in Los Angeles and New York City put together.⁵https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?
But sure, everything’s “under control.”
Johnson tried to push back with his own fact sheet, claiming a 33% reduction in homicides and 38% reduction in shootings.⁶
Even if those numbers are accurate – and with Democrat politicians, that’s a big if – they’re starting from such a catastrophically high baseline that Chicago is still a killing field.
Meanwhile, Johnson and Pritzker have been throwing tantrums about Trump’s suggestion to deploy National Guard troops to clean up their mess.
“Chicagoans are not asking for a militarized force to occupy our city,” Johnson whined during a news conference.⁷
No, they’re just asking not to get shot walking to the corner store in broad daylight.
Look at what’s really happening here
Here’s the thing that should make every American furious about this situation.
Trump has already proven his crime crackdown works in Washington, D.C.
Trump deployed over 2,200 troops to patrol Washington, D.C. two weeks ago, and the results speak for themselves: just one murder in the entire time they’ve been on the streets.⁸
One homicide in two weeks in a major American city.
Compare that to Chicago’s six deaths in a single weekend, and you start to understand why Pritzker and Johnson are so desperate to keep Trump’s help away.
They’d rather let their constituents die than admit Trump’s approach actually saves lives.
You want to know what this really tells us about the modern Democrat Party?
They care more about opposing Trump than protecting the people who elected them.
At the same conference, Pritzker told Trump to not come to Chicago, as he is “neither wanted here nor needed here.”⁹
Tell that to the families of those six people who died last weekend.
Tell that to the 27 people who got shot while Pritzker was busy playing politics.
The real victims here aren’t these politicians’ wounded pride – they’re the working families trapped in neighborhoods where Democrat policies have turned everyday life into a survival game.
If Trump gets credit for fixing Chicago’s crime problem, it exposes just how badly Democrats have failed at their most basic job: keeping people safe.
That’s why they’re fighting him tooth and nail, even as the body count keeps climbing.
The choice couldn’t be clearer: Trump’s proven approach that actually works, or more of the same failed policies that have turned Chicago into America’s murder capital.
The people of Chicago deserve better than politicians who’d rather see them suffer than admit they’re wrong.
