Fox News Anchor Suggests Barack Obama Committed ‘Seditious Conspiracy’ in 2016

Fox News senior national correspondent and anchor, Kevin Corke, suggested on Friday that former President Barack Obama committed seditious conspiracy.

Corke shared a Fox headline on Friday that read, “BREAKING NEWS: Obama admin ‘manufactured’ intelligence to create 2016 Russian election interference narrative, documents show.” He then captioned the story by writing, “Seditious Conspiracy (18 U.S.C. § 2384): Defined as two or more people conspiring to “overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force” the U.S. government or prevent it from carrying out its lawful functions…”

The Fox story, by Brooke Singman, also quoted the Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard saying, “’There was a treasonous conspiracy in 2016 committed by officials at the highest level of our government.”

Singman’s report was based on Gabbard declassifying documents she claimed proved that Obama was behind the Trump-Russia probe during his first term.

“On Friday, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard declassified documents revealing ‘overwhelming evidence’ that demonstrates how, after President Donald Trump won the 2016 election against Hillary Clinton, then-President Barack Obama and his national security team laid the groundwork for what would be the years-long Trump–Russia collusion probe,” wrote Singman.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump himself publicly called for Russia to hack the Clinton campaign, which the country later did.

In 2020, a Republican-led investigation in the U.S. Senate concluded that Russia did indeed interfere in the 2016 election on Trump’s behalf. The Senate panel investigating the election published a 1,000-page report, which found “Russia launched an aggressive effort to interfere in the election on Trump’s behalf,” reported the AP at the time. The report added that “the Trump campaign chairman had regular contact with a Russian intelligence officer and says other Trump associates were eager to exploit the Kremlin’s aid, particularly by maximizing the impact of the disclosure of Democratic emails hacked by Russian intelligence officers.”
