The wishes of the majority of American voters became reality Monday when Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 47th president. The United States can finally turn the page on the Biden administration, and Biden can now be labeled as “former president.”
After Biden’s disastrous debate performance against Trump, just about everyone except Dr. Jill saw the handwriting on the wall; he was about to get shellacked in November. He was a victim of a bloodless coup but not senile enough to strike a preemptive blow against the Democrat power brokers by quickly naming Vice President Harris as his pick.
Her joy campaign never got off the ground, despite polling by most major news operations that showed her with a small lead. We’d find out after the election that her internal polls showed a much direr picture.
Perhaps that’s reason her campaign and surrogates attempted to turn things around in the eleventh hour by calling Trump a fascist and comparing him to Hitler and labeling Trump “a threat to democracy.” Some have toned it down, but the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were still sounding the death knell of the Republic when she wrote last Sunday that “we are on the eve of an authoritarian administration, and this is what 21st century fascism is starting to look like.”
Webster defines fascism as a populist political philosophy, movement or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual, that is associated with a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, and that is characterized by severe economic and social regimentation and by forcible suppression of opposition.
AOC has taken a page from Hitler’s minister of propaganda Joesph Goebbels’ playbook, “repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it yourself.” Goebbels also wrote that effective propaganda was to accuse others of what you are doing yourself.
Consider the following:
Biden attempted to unilaterally forgive billions in student loans. Thankfully, most of those actions were successfully challenged, but he persisted in continuing to pander to a small segment of our population.
Biden and his minions killed a number of energy initiatives, including the Keystone Pipeline and liquified natural gas exports. Coincidentally, he later admitted to not even remembering signing the ban on LNG exports.
Biden and his administration blatantly ignored current immigration laws and allowed more than seven million illegal border crossings through the first quarter of 2024.
Biden and his administration pressured social media companies to censor free speech.
Biden tried to unilaterally rewrite Title IX, a document that has protected women’s education and sports for decades. Thankfully that effort was successfully challenged in the courts.
Biden unilaterally decided the proposed Equal Right Amendment was now the 28th Amendment to the Constitution, despite the fact the deadline for the states to ratify the amendment passed long ago. Thank goodness the national archivist knows the rules but “repeat a lie. …”
Despite repeatedly pledging not to pardon his son, Biden had a change of heart when it became apparent, he (or someone pulling the strings) couldn’t call the shots at the DOJ anymore after Jan. 20. He pardoned Hunter Biden for offenses he had pled guilty to or had been convicted of as well as anything he might be convicted of.
Thumbing his nose at the American people, Biden continued on his personal pardon parade by (again most likely dancing to the string pulls) pardoning or granting clemency to a number of convicted felons.
But wait, to enshrine himself at the Prince of Pardons, one of his last acts in office was to preemptively pardon several family members, Dr. Fauci, Gen. Milley and everyone who was involved in prosecuting those who marched into the capital on Jan. 6, 2020. Can you pardon someone who hasn’t committed a crime?
By the way, in another lame duck move, Biden unilaterally banned non-condensing natural gas fired water heaters by 2029 with another executive order last Dec. 26. It’s doubtful he knows the difference between the two.
Added to the profligate, wasteful spending that fueled inflation and events like the tragic withdrawal from Afghanistan and pathetic foreign policy blunders, no wonder Biden leaves office with dismal approval ratings. That should not surprise anyone who can understand that threats to democracy and fascists don’t always wear jackboots and swastikas.
