Just three days after Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president in June of last year, conservative columnist Ann Coulter suggested on “Real Time with Bill Maher” that he had the best shot at the GOP nomination, meeting with thunderous laughter from the studio audience. Of course, now it appears she was right.
“Of the declared ones, right now, Donald Trump,” Coulter said when asked which GOP candidate had the best chance of winning the nomination.
Roundtable guests Rep. Luis Gutiérrez, Joy Reid and Matt Lewis looked shocked at her answer and the crowd erupted in guffaws.
Conservative pundit and author Coulter was mocked again, later in the segment, for suggesting that Bernie Sanders would make a better Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton. Keep in mind, this was nearly a year ago, when Clinton was viewed as an unstoppable force and long before Sanders gained the support that has kept him in the race to this day. Many Democratic voters now agree with Coulter’s theory.
Maher made a sarcastic prediction, saying he “would do anything” to see a Trump/Chris Christie ticket. Turns out, he may not have to do anything at all.

Conservative pundit Ann Coulter expressed her frustration with Republican Trump voters over the weekend and made the case for why she doesn’t believe the former president can beat President Joe Biden in a general election.
“How many people who voted for Biden in 2020 have since switched to Trump?” Coulter asked on X/Twitter before breaking down the electoral math as she sees it:
If there are ANY, it’s a lot fewer than:
1) those who voted for Trump but who’ve since died (older white people);
2) immigrants who turned 18 in the last 4 yrs and will vote (minorities);
3) Republicans who voted for Trump in 2020, but have since changed their minds over, e.g. his behavior in the GA runoffs, and the 2022 “red wave” —
… losing election after election for the GOP by demanding that Republicans run on the “stolen 2020 election,” e.g. Blake Masters, Kari Lake, Doug Mastriano, Adam Laxalt, Don Bolduc, Joe Kent, etc.
Coulter dropped her analysis just ahead of the Iowa Republican caucus, in which Trump is expected to win by a wide, if not historic, margin. The last Des Moines Registerpoll ahead of voting showed Trump with 48 percent support, while Nikki Haley is in second place with 20 percent. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was trailing in third place with 16 percent support.
Coulter followed that thread up a few hours later with another post, writing:

Coulter has broken with Trump in recent years, citing his failure to achieve meaningful immigration reform as the breaking point. If she broke with Trump over immigration then – she must really dislike the Biden/Democrats with their big time inventory of immigrants.
