But many Democrats don’t want to see their leadership embracing prominent Republicans just because they speak out against Trump. When Liz Cheney was a member of Congress, she voted in line with President Trump 93 percent of the time. On matters like abortion rights, environmental protection, racial justice, civil liberties and national security, the younger Cheney has consistently fought for positions that the vast majority of Democrats see as inimical to the best interests of the country.
It’s one thing to strive for a united front — which will be necessary — to defeat Trump if he is the GOP nominee. But if Democratic leaders are seen as aligning themselves with Cheney, her record of voting against virtually everything that the Democratic base believes in could add to the alienation that’s already felt by millions of young people who voted for Biden in 2020 but now see him as an unprincipled compromiser undeserving of their vote next year.

Anything to sell her book.
The real story is – Liz mislead her voters into thinking she was a Republican – not – she is part of the DEEP STATE – just like the Bushes and her Father.
When Pelosi racked her leaves and selected Liz Cheney to be the main part of her committee that explained the whole story.
Poor Liz, trying to still be something she is not a part of.
Thinking that Rep Kelly was calling her his “girlfriend” was rather presumptuous on her part. Guess she doesn’t know that you can have a friend who is a girl.

WASHINGTON — They didn’t like her tone. They suggested she wasn’t contrite enough, hadn’t learned her lesson, and that she flouted an off-brand, defiant “attitude.”
That’s how former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., in her new book. sums up the vibe she got from Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Butler, and other male members of the House Republican Conference.
During a meeting in February 2021 as Republicans debated whether to oust Ms. Cheney from her House leadership role after she voted to impeach then-President Donald Trump. some male members “were so enraged by my unwillingness to apologize that they got themselves worked up and seemed on the verge of tears as they lectured me,” she wrote in her new book, “Oath and Honor.”
“Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania, for example, seemed angry because I had released a statement before I voted,” wrote Ms. Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney. “In an effort to describe how upset he was, he said, ‘It’s like you’re playing in the biggest game of your life and you look up and see your girlfriend sitting on the opponent’s side!’”
Matthew Knoedler, a spokesman for the congressman, said last year after the exchange was reported in another book that Mr. Kelly, a former football player and coach, often draws sports comparisons.

“He sees the Republican conference as a team and the reported exchange reflects that,” he said, noting Mr. Kelly had “repeatedly expressed concerns” with Ms. Cheney’s role as conference chair after Jan. 6, 2021.
While Mr. Trump’s supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to block congressional certification of the electoral votes that would make Joe Biden the next president, Ms. Cheney insisted Mr. Biden won fair and square.
Mr. Kelly and Western Pennsylvania’s other two Republican House members, Glenn Thompson of Centre and Guy Reschenthaler of Peters, voted to reject the state’s certified electoral votes for Mr. Biden, as did a majority of the GOP conference. They also asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the election in Pennsylvania and other battleground states.
Ms. Cheney, who later served as vice chair of the bipartisan House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack, described the men who criticized her as “emotional.”
“These were grown men,” she said after referencing Mr. Kelly’s “girlfriend” remark. “This was 2021. I was standing at the podium at the front of the auditorium thinking, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’ Other female members started yelling, ‘She’s not your girlfriend!’ ‘Yeah,’ I said. ‘I’m not your girlfriend.’”
Ms. Cheney eventually was stripped of her leadership post, and she lost the Republican primary in 2022 when she sought another term in Washington.
She says in her book that Mr. Trump, certain members of Congress and other “Trump enablers” have “preyed on the patriotism of millions of Americans.”
“We the people must stop them,” she wrote.
