Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó believes the Trump indictments are “business as usual”

This week Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó condemned the Biden administration for politicizing the Department of Justice to “attack” 45th President Donald Trump.

Szijjártó made the statements during an appearance on Newsmax TV that was first reported by Americano Media, a conservative-leaning Spanish-language website. He later posted the video to his Facebook page with Hungarian subtitles.

Asked his government’s position on the indictments levied against Trump, Hungary’s Foreign Minister replied “Business as usual.”

“Whenever a conservative leader has a chance to take over an important position, and when a conservative leader has a chance to win an important election,” he explained, “then he or she gets immediately under enormous attack by the liberal mainstream.”

He explained that in European politics any “conservative leader being strong, enjoying good reputation, enjoying social support” will find him or herself “under attack from the liberal mainstream.”

“The liberal mainstream will not shy away from using all kinds of tools, and unfortunately justice is usually one of these tools,” said Szijjártó. “So we stand with President Trump, we cross [our] fingers for him to be honest. Under his leadership we had the best political relationship between the United States and Hungary. He is a true friend, and as a true friend he can count on us for any situation, that’s for sure.”
