Common Man Thoughts
Thoughts and Ramblings of a Common Man
June 11, 2023 Injustice, Vultures and the Sound of Silence
The vultures are circling. I’ve waited a couple of days to comment on the “indictment” of President Trump. Wanted the dust to settle a bit and let the “cream” rise to the top.
It’s a simple message, really: America First. One would think that every American, yes every American, would flock to such an ideology. But behold, it is not just the anti-American left working so hard to squelch this idea, this movement. I have been puzzled about those who lack support for this movement from the outset. As I’ve said many times, if one is an American, and it’s not America first, tell me exactly where does one’s loyalty actually lie?
I may spend an inordinate amount of time on vultures. I’ll try and share my opinion on several types of these political scavengers. A few hours ago, Romney once again slithered out of his den (he and others like him are worse than vultures) and exhibited his traitorship. (1) Well, I’ll be, I expected the spell checker to correct “traitorship”. Must be a new word specially designated for “public (self) servants” just like Romney. On second thought, makes me wonder if this became a word in memory of Liz Cheney. She may have left her mark on history, after all. Sorry for the short ramble here. Now, back to Romney. Nary a word about all the illegal actions taken against President Trump by the Obama/Biden Whitehouse and their merry band of Gestapo; but he can’t pass up a chance to take a shot at our President. I hope he gets just as sound a boot as Cheney did. In fact, I wish the folks in Utah would demand a special session just so they could pass a law allowing for the recall of politicians and rid themselves, and us, of him now.
The first example of an obvious vulture is Chris Christie. Commentary will follow these three references to Christie. Reference one comes around the time Christie announced his intention to run for President. “…..Christie said Monday that Republicans need a candidate who can take out Donald Trump in a single, brutal swipe like the one Christie delivered to a different rival in 2016.” (2) Reference two is right after the indictment was announced. (3) “We don’t get our news from Trump’s Truth Social account. Let’s see what the facts are when any possible indictment is released. As I have said before, no one is above the law, no matter how much they wish they were. We will have more to say when the facts are revealed.” Reference three came after the release of the indictment. (4) “‘I know how this stuff works and the fact is that these facts are devastating.” He highlights the larger concern of the country, questioning if this is the conduct we desire from a potential President of the United States.”
Let’s see if I can explain how I believe this all works. First, Christie, seeking to curry favor, auditions for the Republican establishment by making a reference to his great desire and ability to “take out Trump”. To ensure the “establishment’ is paying attention, he takes a shot a President Trump while trying to maintain the illusion of fairness and neutrality. “We will have more to say when the facts are revealed.” The illusion is blown in his other comments, among them, “We don’t get our news from Trump’s Truth Social…” and “No one is above the law”. I’m sure we all know what Christie means when he said, “I know how this stuff works”. I must say Mr. Christie that we also know how this stuff works. We have seen this same “dog and pony show” at the same circus year after year. You’ve become just one more in a long line of inept animal trainers, all with the same tiring, worn out routine. While plotting, in the cigar smoke filled backroom, the Republican “establishment” (the Uni-party) may have promised you a bright future. The American people have not!
There is another type of vulture circling around up there. This one is much more cunning and subtle. “GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has vowed if elected to pardon former President Trump, who’s now been charged in two cases.” (5) This one gives the appearance of benevolence and forgiveness. Ahh, but you already have him convicted and in need of a pardon. Yes, a very sublet and cunning vulture signaling guilt before any further legal action is taken. There are more like him.
Next, there are many who have lamented over the injustice being done to President Trump, while at the same time complaining that Biden is getting away with the same actions. Our two Senators from Wyoming slip easily into this category. As they denounce his “indictment”, they use an even more subtle and politically calculated approach. (6) Barrasso: “This indictment certainly looks like an unequal application of Justice. Nobody is above the law. Yet it seems like some are.” Lummis: “I have serious concerns with classified documents being handled improperly in this case. However, this is the first time the DOJ has decided to pursue criminal charges against a former president.” In essence they are saying both President Trump and Biden, among others, are guilty and it would be acceptable to charge both Biden and President Trump. They fail to point out the stark differences between Presidential authority and the lack thereof of a former Senator and Vice President.
I must add here that we have one member of the Wyoming GOP delegation that remains committed to representing us. Thank God, and I mean this literally, for Harriett Hageman. Her statement reflects her knowledge and boldness in speaking out clearly against this. “The case against President Trump is ridiculously weak, since as president he had broad authority to decide what documents remained classified. It’s doubly thin because others are also known to have kept classified documents, including * Biden (7) although his were from his days as vice president, when he notably did not have declassification authority.” She gets it and explains clearly what our two Senators chose to leave out. Representative Hageman is joined by a few others who are bringing to light the true travesty of this sham.
Last, there is the sound of silence. The left has been strangely quiet. A few have even said it was a mistake to indict him because people are rallying around him. Barney Frank, former Congressman from MA, commented this is not only a mistake, but went so far as to say, “First of all, let’s be clear — and others have said this: There’s no sign that what Trump did endangered national security.” (8) Silence from the Republican establishment has been deafening. McConnell must have nearly all Republican Senators well in tow. At most, some have raised the same “concerns” as Barrasso and Lummis. Remember that cigar smoke filled backroom? One can almost imagine the conversation. The Democrats, ” We’ve done our part. We indicted him and set the table for you. It’s now up to you to finish the job of ridding us of this blasted intruder.” McConnell and company responding, “We are lining up as many traitors as we can find. Remember, it was us who helped make sure your puppet was selected by certifying the unconstitutional 2020 election. We even covered for you when the idiot told everyone he and Obama were rigging it. We’ll do our best to finish him off this time.”
Speaking of the 2020 election, and because it is the same treasonous bunch involved now, I have to add one more rambling side note. I contacted Barrasso’s office after the 2020 election certification. I told him that certifying the unconstitutional election was treasonous. He responded that it wasn’t up to Congress to choose the President. I responded back that I agreed with his statement, but we expected them to ensure our votes were protected, counted properly and a thorough investigation of the obvious fraud and corruption was their job prior to certification. Crickets from that point on.
An article in The American Thinker provides a good synopsis of Presidential Constitutional authority along with information concerning the Presidential Records Act and the Espionage Act. (9) The link to the article is included in reference (9) It is a quick read and I hesitate to summarize and risk spoiling this very pertinent information.
We will need more than chest pounding and rhetoric from Congress now. Below is contact information for the House and Senate. It’s time, once again, to “light ’em up”.
US House of Representatives: https://www.house.gov/representatives
US Senate: https://www.senate.gov/senators/
I hope you will familiarize yourselves with information provided here and from other sources. Confront your Senators and Representative with facts and let them know you expect them to speak out and act on this information, as they should. This kicks the legs out from under their weak and flimsy stances. Informed constituents garner greater attention and response. These “public servants” must know that we will not allow President Trump to have to stand alone against this latest attack. They have betrayed him, and us, too many times and they must now know we will hold them to account.
II Chronicles 7:14 Lord, We, once again, thank You for guiding our founders in establishing our country. We pray that truth and justice will prevail, that Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We look to You for redemption; that we would truly be a people of II Chronicles 7:14. We ask not that You bless us in our nation’s sin but that You provide us a way back to You; that many would turn in repentance and seek Your grace and forgiveness. Thank you for Your long suffering and merciful ways. Help us, we pray. In Jesus name. Amen
