Dem’s Try To Change The Past To Fix The FUTURE

What is it with the Left?
Why do they feel they can somehow fix or change the past?
The past IS the past…
It doesn’t need fixing. What it needs is attention so that we can learn from it.
We can learn from both the mistakes and successes of the past; we can use what we know with the gift of hindsight to ensure that we never go down a certain destructive path again, and we can use that same hindsight to ensure a peaceful and prosperous future going forward.
We can glean all of this by looking back and studying the past…
But what we cannot do, no matter how hard we try, is change it.
For some reason, Leftists feel like they have to right the wrongs of the past and that doing so is the key to changing the future.
First of all…
That’s not how the continuity of time works.
You can’t retroactively fix the past…
The ONLY thing you can do is use the information we have to secure a better future.
You Can’t Change The Past By Changing The Narrative
We saw this starting to take hold with the growing trend of removing statues of Confederate Civil War soldiers from places of prominence in the towns and cities around the South.
A practice that was met with both support and resistance. Opponents of the practice believe what we’ve been saying here: we need to learn from the past, and removing these monuments can take that reminder away – which is a dangerous move.
Why?
Because the old adage of “those who forget their past are doomed to repeat it” is TRUE.
But, leave it to a politician to politicize this movement trying to fix the past…
And leave it to Elizabeth Warren to add fuel to that political fire.
Fauxcahontas started talking about reparations for the descendants of slaves when she announced her intentions of running for the presidency in 2020.
When people started pointing out that all she was really doing was pandering for the Black vote…
She extended those reparation talks to Native Americans as well.
For some reason, the talk about “free money” took root and started to spread…
And others that are vying for the DNC nomination started following suit.
After Warren, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, and others all talked about supporting reparations…
As pandering to voters is more important than telling the truth. They know that the likelihood of getting reparations voted through is slim to none.
However, it’s setting a precedent…
Now, lawmakers believe they can fix OTHER wrongs of the past by changing the narrative to what happened.
The Remove The Stain Act – Nothing But Lip Service
Now, there’s another change on Congress’ docket…
And that’s the removal of 20 Congressional Medals of Honor from soldiers that were honored for their roles at the Battle of Wounded Knee.
Now, we don’t have time to get into the massacre of Wounded Knee, where American soldiers killed more than 200 Lakota men, women, and children in one of the grossest displays of tyranny and slaughter that our nation has ever perpetrated.
It was a terrible moment in American history, and we can’t change that…
However, Dems are trying.
The “Remove The Stain Act” introduced in Congress is a bill that would see the 20 Congressional Medals of Honor that were awarded due to the events of that day revoked in hopes of righting a historic wrong.
Now…
This act is NOTHING but symbolic. The men who participated in the slaughter, as well as the man who gave them the medals, have all long since died.
It can’t remove the pain that the descendants of those victims feel…
It can’t return life to those people who died in the cold and snow on that day, and it can’t restore the part they might have played in building this nation.
All it can really do is dredge up pain and widen the political divide as it points to one side and says, “See? This is what your side is capable of! This is what YOU do!”
If they TRULY wanted to make a difference, they would have proposed a bill that honored those victims of violence with a day of observance…
Brought attention to their needless slaughter and why we should never let it happen again.
It’s an attention grab…
The removal of medals is nothing but lip service.
If you want to fix the future – you acknowledge the past and how much their sacrifice means to America now.
We can’t change the past…
NOBODY can.
But we can reshape the future…
Hopefully, the Left can learn that fact someday.
