When TV came down on us, we thought it was a miracle that we would be able to see live TV without any ads – wrong. Over the many years we have all suffered through great numbers of thirty-second political ads. In fact, they have become a basic art form. Many people have built their careers and even sent their kids thru college by spewing the maximum number of insults into exactly thirty seconds – especially the fake news media.
My TV sponsor even accused me on screen of using the mute button too often – which was reported and now the TV has a special security monitor for our household so we won’t be harassed.
In California where TV time is expensive – the people are sick and tired of watching politicians grind their insults. Now we have what they call ten-second commercials where the cost is half as much and we have to listen to even more of what they call brevity which is the soul of wit. They can say a lot in ten-seconds. A good example is:
My opponent is a liar and a thief who talks one way and votes another. He is eight months behind in his alimony. And not only that, when he was eighteen years old he smoked pot, and he did inhale.
Ten seconds.
Is this only in America?
