This teacher needs to retire or be fired.  When teachers step outside the boundary of dignity then it is time for them to go.  This is an insult to not only te white students but an insult to himself since he is white.  Such stupidity to try to make minority student feel better by self-deprecating himself.  This teacher doesn’t realize it but the minority don’t feel better by this statement – they lose respect for him.  At that age students are in the process of learning and finding themselves and this only confuses them more.
