Woman put newborn son in refrigerator for 3 hours

CHESTER, S.C. — A South Carolina woman is accused of putting her newborn son in the refrigerator at her Chester home for three hours, authorities said.
Chester County deputies and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division officials charged Angela Blackwell, 27, with homicide by child abuse on Monday.
Chester County Sheriff’s Office
Blackwell put her 4-day-old son in a refrigerator at her home on Rose Street on Feb. 27, officials said. After three hours, the child was removed from the fridge, which was working, and the family called emergency services, a warrant showed.
The infant died the same day of hypothermia, according to the Chester County coroner.
The coroner said the investigation took six months because officials had to conduct extensive interviews about the newborn’s death.
Jeff Lewis, the newborn child’s father, told WSOC Blackwell is innocent and called her “a good mom.”
(SURE?)
Additional information on the case was not immediately available.
(If she has other children, they should be removed from the home.)
