Sharing a note from Senator John Cornyn.
Subject: Remembering Our Troops On Memorial Day
The Lonestar Weekly
On Memorial Day, we remember our servicemen and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation. We pay tribute to those who have given their all to preserve our freedom and way of life. And we recognize that through their service, these heroes exemplify what it truly means to be a patriotic American.
In Congress, taking care of our national defense should be our first priority. The National Defense Authorization Act, a bill to support our troops at home and abroad, passed out of the Armed Services Committee with overwhelming support, including the vote of every single Democrat, and the Senate unanimously voted to bring the legislation to the floor – a true feat. But Senate Democrats have been doing everything they can to slow down this legislation in the name of politics.
It’s time for Senator Harry Reid and his cohort to drop the stall tactics and stop the political posturing. We must keep at the forefront of the conversation the men and women who are out there in harm’s way, often separated from their family, their community, and their friends.
I will continue to work to provide our military the resources and equipment it needs to defend the country. May God bless all our fallen servicemen and women both on this Memorial Day and every day, and may He continue to bless the United States of America.
