KOMMONSENTSJANE – JON STEWART HAS HIS OWN SANCTUARY CITY

Jon and Tracey Stewart adopt horse shot with paintballs

Former ‘Daily Show’ host Jon Stewart adopts horse hit by paintballs

With the general election approaching, the American populace may feel they need Jon Stewart more than ever.

(I think he is doing the country more good adopting horses who have been abused instead of pimping for Obama.)

But abused animals may actually need him more.

The former Daily Show host has a new addition to the New Jersey animal sanctuary he founded with wife Tracey: a horse named Lily who had been repeatedly shot at with paintballs.

On Friday, the Lancaster County, Pa., SCPA confirmed to the local CBS affiliate that the Stewarts had adopted Lily, a white mare. She’d been brought there some time earlier by a Rhode Island man who tried to sell her. The horse was blind, thin and limping.

Instead of making money, 65-year-old Philip Price Jr. was charged and later convicted of three counts of animal cruelty as well as two other charges relating to handling animals without the proper state licenses and health certificates. He was ordered to pay $10,178 for her veterinary care and another $3.056 in fines, reports Pennsylvania’s Fox 43.

Tracey Stewart, a former vet tech, came to check on Lily in April while she was recuperating at the Penn Vet New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, Pa., and began making arrangements to move her to the family’s animal sanctuary.
