Franklin Graham Blasts de Blasio’s Call for Chick-fil-A Boycott
By Cathy Burke
Evangelical leader Franklin Graham says New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s call for a boycott of the chain eatery Chick-fil-A because of its anti-LGBT stance is bald-faced “bullying, intolerance and discrimination.”
In a Facebook post Saturday, the son of famed preacher Billy Graham, and leader of his Billy Graham Evangelistic Association as well as the charity Samaritan’s Purse, said the snub was difficult to imagine “all because the business owners let it be known that they operate by Christian principles and believe in God’s definition of marriage.”
“I have known the owners of Chick-fil-A, the Cathy family, for many years and have great respect for them,” he writes. “They just opened a new store in New York and Mayor de Blasio took the gloves off and came after them, calling for a boycott.”
“Doesn’t this sound like bullying, intolerance, and discrimination?” he adds. “All because someone won’t roll over to the LGBT agenda.”
Graham said he hopes the chain “has record sales in their New York stores.”
The company already has locations in Manhattan, and will put its new store in the borough of Queens. It reportedly has plans to have 10-12 locations in the New York City area by next year.
New York mayor needs to stick to his job performance instead of sticking his fingers into the hot oil of social politics – he just might get burned – cause right now the mayor’s job performance isn’t so hot. Mr. mayor needs to remember – God doesn’t necessarily call the unqualified – he qualifies the called.
