Obama Hiroshima
There are still World War II veterans alive today who may have died during an American ground invasion of Japan during the war. President Harry Truman’s decision to drop nuclear bombs saved lives and ended one of the most deadly wars in history. The Greatest Generation fought and sacrificed to defeat the German Nazi forces and their Japanese allies.
Now, President Barack Obama has announced he will disgrace the legacy of our veterans and visit Hiroshima, Japan to apologize for the devastation caused by the nuclear explosion.
With only months left in his Presidency, Obama has officially announced his apology tour. This is outrageous!
President Obama will become the first sitting U.S. president to visit Hiroshima when he travels to Japan later this month, the White House announced this morning.
The president and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will visit the site where the United States dropped an atomic bomb during World War II. The May 27 trip will highlight the president’s “continued commitment to pursuing the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said.
Secretary of State John Kerry became the highest ranking U.S. official to visit the site when he attended a memorial ceremony in Hiroshima last month.
The upcoming visit will likely raise questions about whether the president will extend a formal apology for the attacks. Earnest has previously said the president does not believe the Japanese government deserves a formal apology.
Obama’s Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes claims Obama won’t revisit the nuclear bomb question, but Rhodes is the same guy who bragged about lying to the media about the dangerous deal with Iran.
The imagery of an American President visiting Hiroshima and attending a memorial ceremony to campaign against the use of nuclear weapons is a direct insult to World War II veterans. It’s Obama apologizing for one of the most serious and important decisions a President ever had to make.Thankfully during World War II, America had real leaders who weren’t afraid of tough decisions.
