Today’s Gospel reading puts the matter in very simple terms: Jesus’ new commandment to love each other is how resurrection grace operates in history and human societies. What is new about the commandment is that now Christ’s completed redemption – His love for us – is the source of our power to love as He loved. Loving as Jesus loved we can help make all things new.
All peoples have to be on the same page in order to achieve that love and in that same instance all people have to be willing to do their part.
