Children are such a pleasure in anyone’s life; but, sometimes the words that leave their mouths will put you in hysterics. We had such an incidence. One of our friend’s grand children was visiting; and, as we all know today’s children show much more ability and knowledge than is usual at a young age.

During our visit the young child related to us that her mommy had a disease. In reply to the couple, I said, I am so sorry to hear that. The couple immediately spoke up and nodded “no.” Then the child replied to the grandmother, “Mommy told me that she has a disease called, “alimony. And, alimony is a disease you get from being married – what is alimony?”
We were later filled in that the mother was in the process of divorcing.
We all had a big laughed and the child was happy. I will have to ask the grandmother if she ever explained to the child, “what is alimony?”
