If you have ever had a pet, you can view this picture and know exactly what is going on between this soldier and his dog.  There is a bond that is hard to explain.  The eyes of the world view this scene in an admiring, sympathetic, and proud manner.  And the only way we can show our appreciation is to give them the care they need upon their return home – which is  not happening.
