KOMMONSENTSJANE – OBAMA TO SUPREME COURT – I MAKE THE LAWS

Subject: Obama to Supreme Court: I make the laws

Pres. Obama to Supreme Court:  I make the laws.

Supreme Court agrees to hear argument that the White House can issue work permits to illegal aliens without Congressional approval.

The administration will argue in April before the Supreme Court that it has the authority to issue work permits to millions of illegal aliens, even though Congress rejected legislation to give it that authority. The decision is expected in June.

The president swore an oath to uphold our laws. Not only is he proposing to completely abandon enforcement of U.S. immigration laws against millions of illegal aliens, but he plans to aid and abet those lawbreakers by giving them the work permits. The White House will argue to the Supreme Court that the states have no legal standing to stop him, that it’s none of their business.

We can’t wait for a better president to fix everything. The president has violated court orders by preparing to give out work permits. By the time another president has taken office, it may be very difficult to undo President Obama’s actions.

Here’s what I wrote last Friday:

I got angry watching Pres. Obama talk about immigration and the economy in his State of the Union address Tuesday night. Didn’t you?

President Obama tried to suggest that our economy can easily handle today’s massive immigration flows without anybody getting hurt.

I remembered how many of my friends are out of work, in some cases, for years. And I remembered that the American middle class is actually shrinking in size, and wages for our less educated citizens are plunging.

Obama said he had made the nation stronger, stressing the quality of our armed forces.

But I remembered how his reckless immigration policies had allowed many terrorists into America to kill our citizens in the name of ISIS.

Obama said, “And I’ll keep pushing for progress on the work that still needs doing. Fixing a broken immigration system.”

I said to myself, “Yeah, he means pushing up immigration numbers by setting aside the U.S. Constitution to make his own laws! He’s ‘fixing’ immigration by abandoning border enforcement, by pushing up work permits to unheard of level.”

You probably know that NumbersUSA rallied America to defeat Chuck Schumer’s and Marco Rubio’s Gang of Eight Amnesty bill.

The fights we will be facing this year are not so glamorous and they will not be so widely written about in the media. But they will be every bit as critical as our recent battles.

This year’s fights are about stopping an unlawful president trying to do with a pen what he cannot do in Congress. And the leadership of the opposition has shown no willingness to oppose his immigration expansionism.

It’s easy to get discouraged and hope a better president will fix everything. Yet we have no assurance there will be a better president on immigration–it could be even worse. We’re fighting a lame duck president with nothing to lose with hardly anyone in Congress fighting against him.

NOW is the time America needs NumbersUSA to oppose Obama’s immigration plans.

NOW is the time America needs us to fight for strong borders, to oppose foreign worker permits.

NOW is the time we need to fight the hardest.

You probably know that we funded the ICE agents’ lawsuit that attempted to block President Obama’s executive DACA amnesty for so-called “Dreamer” illegal aliens. (This case is still on appeal.)

But did you know that the ICE agents’ case helped lay the groundwork for the 26-state-coalition lawsuit which has blocked amnesty for 5 million other illegal aliens? (Now in the Supreme Court.)

Did you know that our members gummed up a rule which would have allowed a temporary educational program for foreign students (OPT) to become a bridge to longer-term work permits to take jobs from American workers? As a result of the tens of thousands of comments our members made opposing the proposed rule, the rule has been put off, maybe permanently.

You probably know that we defeated President Obama’s amnesties in Congress, and you probably know that Obama reacted to his Congressional defeats by turning to illegal, unconstitutional executive actions. We and our allies have been winning a fair number of battles in courts and administrative procedures.

But did you know Obama’s chief of staff stated that in Obama’s final year there would be “audacious executive actions?” Since he’s already subverted the will of Congress with his past executive actions, does “audacious” sound like he’s planning to stay within the law to you?

Do you want to block the president from expanding immigration and rewarding illegal immigration by taking the law into his own hands, then help us.

Do you believe Congress should make U.S. immigration law, and not the president,
then help us.

Do you believe that the president should enforce existing immigration law, not invent new laws out of whole cloth to boost immigration, then help us.

We can’t afford to wait until 2017 for a new president. Not when President Obama has demonstrated he’s willing to use unconstitutional and illegal means. If we don’t fight in 2016, what happens in 2017 might just be irrelevant!

Keep the faith, and don’t ever give up!
